You're wrong. The Iraqi people in general are working very hard for a secular government. They've achieved an incredible amount in an extremely short time. Don't denigrate their achievements, or those of our military.
in addition, the mad mullahs are continuing the clod war they had with Saddam by sending in terrorists to pose as "insurgents", disrupt the fledgling Iraqi government, take over Iraq at last AND score a major victory against the hated US without officially firing a shot. While the mad mullahs are distracted in Iraq....anything can happen in Iran.

They're not trying to "defeat Islam". They're trying to defeat the Islamist theothugs who rule with an iron fist. They want a secular government, not a society free from religion.

"our soldiers are working very hard but management has made a bad decision."The bulk of the Iraqi people would disagree.

There is only one way to bring down the mullah's régime of jihad. The same way the Taliban and Saddam's Ba'athists were overthrown, except in the case of the radical Shi'ite clerics the stakes are far higher, unless they are brought down swiftly.
There are also potential serious risks for the continuing stability of global economics due to the geostrategic location of Iran, her offensive missiles arsenal and the petroleum sea-lanes exiting the Persian Gulf, plus the Saudi & Kuwaiti oil fields open to air attacks, if something were to go wrong in toppling the current dictatorship.
Either way the current collection of mullahs must be prevented in gaining any nuclear advantage.

Why didn't Iranians support the Shah, instead of helping the mollahs taking over their country? Because they have seen Shah as a dictator supported from abroad.

The present generation of students were likely born after 1979 and have no clue about the Shah regime's relative freedoms. How the elections under Shah compared to the elections today? How the SAVAK police compared with the Revolutionary Guard today?

The revolution wasnt supported by majority of Iranians but liberal media portrayed it as if it was supported by masses in Iran.

Whatever be the case, I find it hard to believe that the Shah's regime was in any sognificant way way worse for ordinary people that mullah rule is now.

Whatever be the case, I find it hard to believe that the Shah's regime was in any sognificant way way worse for ordinary people that mullah rule is now. The reason why Shah was overthrown was that he was seen as a foreign puppet. If you had choice for USA to be ruled by some homegrown neo-Puritans or by the tolerant regime imposed by UN/EU, what would you prefer?

The Shah may have been a dictator, but Khomeini wanted to take Iran back into the Dark Ages.

Blame who you will for 1979. Whats real now, is much bigger than then. Middle East could easily change forever...
