Revolting. Just six cars in the race.

Why are the Michelin sitting out the race? Or were they ruled too unsafe to race?

WTF?

What the Michelin teams have decided they aren't racing or what?

The French Michelin tires just surrendered to an American track.

That's the bottom line.

The team manager of the Michelin tired cars decided not to race due to "safety" considerations.

Speed channel annoucnced that Cohlthard (sp?) was pleading with his team management to let him run.

The rules were changed regarding changing tires in the race, only one set per. Michelin contends that turn 13 is too fast to go a whole race on one set of tires. They cite safety considerations and I think they have a good point.

The Speed Channel commentators are loudly complaining about fans throwing debris on the track.

Classless behavior, for sure, but I can't blame them for being furious.

This is horrible. Michelin need to be thrown out of F1 for this.

Can imagine how angry the fans must be.

In my opinion the Michelin teams could have added air to the tire and made other chasis adjustment to make them safe.

They should have at least compromised for the sake of the fans - i.e Build the chicane but not score points.

The pinnacle of motor sport reduced to farce. Shameful. The US Grand Prix is a huge race on the calendar, makes F1 look like a joke to the average US fan. In some respects, it is.

So much for the "Danika" factor, this type of racing will be right back to Square One.

Michelin- another example of French stupidity(they brot the wrong tyres to Indy), quit, and surrender. All North American Racing fans should heretofore boycott Michelin. Furthermore, its' pure Gaullist condescension that they asked the F1 to change the track and put in a chicane in the race-F1 rightly refused. Perhaps the F1 should had let Michelin change the tyres this morning in order to have a race for the 150,000 fans present.
