If Democrats Return To Power, Duck
As asked in this article in the Conservative Union, is the American “empire” responsible for the democracies it creates in the Middle East? Does our military have to back local democracies in quelling dissidents? All such questions are now being posed because democracy by its very nature is chaotic and ever-changing modality. Unleashing such freedoms on nations with millennium-old enemies naturally leads to factional insurgency.
These concerns are complicated by the fact that all these nations are geographically bunched. In addition, Iran is emerging as a permanently hostile enemy, Saudi Arabia continues to sponsor worldwide terrorism, and the terrorist-minded groups like Hezbollah have influence over affairs in Lebanon and Palestine. The weak-minded, worry that we have bitten off more than we can chew.
What we tend to forget is that it took our “warring” 13 original US colonies 15 years to get their act together and formulate a constitution. In today’s Playstation environment we are asking and expecting millennium-old cultures to change overnight. It won’t happen. Especially in the Middle East where their religion of Islam is so internally contentious and progress-resistent.
Expect the left to drive us nuts with their hurry up attacks on the process. Thank God for a President with a prescience to understand our role as the shepherd who leads the horse to water but can’t force him to drink. Just get ready for a bumpy ride. Bush did his job; he lit the fire of freedom. It is up to us to keep it burning. The “Hate America, Embrace Failure” leftists will be working against us the whole way. How tiresome.
Just try to remember that we can only point the way, it is up to Muslims to reform their own countries and make their religion a more peaceful force for good. We are not responsible for their fits and starts, nor for that matter their eventual success. We have done our part and will continue to help from afar. We will continue to make a good Judeo-Christian try. If for any reason a country in the region threatens the world, look for a Republican President to do some discipling of its own. Can you say bunker-busters. If a Democrat President is in power, duck.
