I wonder if any of the GOP senators are as committed to victory in Iraq and the War on Terror as George W. Bush is.

I know none of the Democrats are rooting for the USA



You've hit on something, Okie. And perhaps there's an explanation.

The DEMS obviously want power- they want to win back the Presidency and the Legislature.

Many of the GOP Senators want personal power- they see themselves as the next President, especially where there is no established front-runner.

This desire for personal power among many of the GOP Senators, makes them resistant to taking a principled stand. They don't want to get into the trenches, they want to be about the fray. They want to sit back with a finger in the air, and see which way the wind blows, so as to further their own agenda.

So, you may be right- But regardless, it stinks!

Which is just plain myopic on their part, IMO. It seems that the route to the Presidency in this case would require a consistent and principled support of the War on Terror.
