You mean that the hardliner that the Mullahs and Clerics were hoping for actually won? WOW! Didn't expect that! Lucky for the Mad Mullahs!

Unfortunately, unlucky for Iran I suspect!

Things are gonna get ugly over there now!

God bless you all!

As soon as I saw "more votes than voters" I knew. They learned quickly from Seattle.

Oh, the mullahs are now seers and can manipulate elections, er, pardon me, I mean wish upon a star and get their little puppet elected.

Talk about rigged, voter fraud, and lots of scam, IMHO.

Although Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has the last word on all matters of state, a hardline presidency would remove the moderating influence on decision-making exercised by outgoing reformist President Mohammad Khatami since 1997.

Riiiiight.

Nah. But they've got Sean Penn, so we can all breathe easier.

Kidding aside, I wish the best for what the freedom fighters are now facing. My prayers will be with you.

Whatwas the breakdown of votes for women?

How did the illegal alien vote come out?

Well, we all knew that another hardliner was going to be put into office. The mullahs saw to that. One of your links above has an Iranian saying that if that happened they were going to leave Iran because it would become so dangerous. It's already been dangerous. I am greatly concerned for the Iranian people, may God help them out of this nightmare somehow. Guess what this election result tells Israel? The clock is ticking quickly now.

I think you may be being sarcastic, but women have the right (an obligation) to vote in Iran.

I was being sarcastic...I was not aware that theyw ere allowed to vote there, and I am truly surprised! I guess I learn new things each day.

Well, if that surprised you, then you'd better sit down before you read this (though if you're at your computer, you're probably sitting already)..........women are members of parliament there and, hold on to your seat.........the Iranian gov't is set up to have several vice-presidents (don't know the exact number), and women can and do hold that position.

Surprised?

Sounds likie I need to do some studying, since I am rarely surprised twice in one day...I am truly surprised, and very confused, since I have tended to compare Iranian culture with Arab culture without really separating the two sufficiently. I won't be so glib next time...

As it has been noted before, Iranians/Persians are neither Arabs nor Muslims. Iran may be officially an Islamic country, but the same number of true believers in Islam in Iran, is about the same number of African-Americans in the U.S. The government is Islamic; the people, in general, are not.
