Dick Durbin has issued a second apologia for his comments 10 days ago. In those remarks, the Illinois Senator said the American treatment of detainees at Guantanamo Bay sounded like something that would have been per- petrated by the Nazis, the Soviets, or the murderous Cambodian regime of Pol Pot. On Tuesday he said that if anybody took those remarks the wrong way, well, he's sorry.
Which is not quite the same thing as saying he is sorry he made the remarks, or that he now realizes comparing the treatment of U.S. detainees to the murder of 6 million Jews in crematoria is, to put it kindly, morally obtuse. (If anything, Durbin thinks his critics are the ones who still don't get it: "It is very clear that even though I thought I had said something that clarified the situation, to many people it was still unclear." The dummies.)
Maybe Durbin was just trying to keep up with the Joneses at Amnesty International, who have termed Guantanamo "the gulag of our time" and who have called upon foreign nations to investigate and arrest "high-level torture architects" such as Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, former CIA Director George Tenet, and Major General Geoffrey Miller, Commander of the Joint Task Force Guantnamo.
Or maybe Durbin was just sticking to the script of American political rhetoric, which carries a shorthand note every few pages reading "IHRH" for Insert Hitler Reference Here.

I then added that Senator Durbin couldn't wait to begin insulting American soldiers once he realized that people like him, Senator Warner, were unwilling to stand up for real American principles, and show the Dems backbone.
The only way the Durbins of this world can be put in their place is for the Republicans in the Senate to kick some a$$ and take names ~ not sign contracts with Democrat scum.
...interesting. There is actually a real Nazi publication called IHR.
Best thread headline ever!
