The Arab TV news network criticized by the new Iraqi government and others for its anti-American bias and willingness to carry the messages of terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida, is headed for the U.S.-Mexico border to document how easy it is to enter America illegally.
Al-Jazeera has contacted Minuteman Civil Defense Corps leader Chris Simcox to try to arrange interviews. Simcox, who rejected the request for cooperation with the TV network, says al-Jazeera, seen by millions throughout the Arab world and elsewhere, is producing an hour-long documentary news special on lack of security at the U.S. southern border.
Al-Jazeera reporter Naisser Hssaini mentioned the increase in apprehensions of illegal aliens known as OTMs other than Mexicans. These foreigners increasingly include Arabs, Muslims and others from the Middle East. The reporter also mentioned his familiarity with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement police of catching and releasing OTMS particularly those not specifically known to be on any terrorist watch list.
"The group has been denied requests for interviews by Minuteman Civil Defense Corps organizers but they still insist on filming the groups activities along with the rest of the media during a July 4th weekend mission near Arivaca, Arizona," said Simcox.
Simcox has contacted the offices of Arizona's two Republican U.S. senators John McCain and Jon Kyl to invite them to do interviews with al Jazeera, "so perhaps they can explain to the viewers of this news outlet just how secure America's borders really are."

Oh come on, use some common sense, sheesh 95% of the people crossing are Hispanic and for the most part are working hard picking vegetables and trying to feed their familes.
I'm sorry but I don't see people picking vegetables and building building as felonious people as IMO, some on FR do.
Personally it is my opinion that it is better to fix the process and let these hard working people conrribute to the wealth creation in America, and spend and focus the resources on the real bad guys(i.e not on those who want to build buildings, but on those who wish to blow them up).
Go home. You're tedious.
Good, it means he's doing his job very well.
How long can GW hold the American security hostage for his amnesty program?

Please post a link or a credible source for this figure.
Thousands cross our borders illegally each week unaccounted for...what secret inside source of information are you privvy to that lets you make the above claim?
If they're trying to sneak over our southern border to circumvent American immigration laws and take advantage of American citizens by abusing their laws and depleting their resources for personal gain, then the difference may not be as big as you'd like to think.
Tancredo has it right.
At least someone is paying attention. Thanks again Senior Bush.
And there's one glaring similarity; they can all cross our borders with near impunity.

So the Minuteman shows them how porous the border is, Al Jazeera goes back and tells the terrorists what to do.
I must be living in a parallel universe or something because I cannot believe we are this screwed up as a nation.
Hey, dane, use some yourself.
We have borders for a reason, and even if you don't like it, they are illegals, and that is the law of the land.
Frankly, your endless posturing on the subject of ILLEGALS is boring. -Illegal is illegal.
And don't forget their major occupation, Drug Traffickers.
Truth be told, the honest, Church-going Christians of South America would in all likelihood come to our beloved country LEGALLY.
But I'd like to add to your list of things the ILLEGALS do here, if I may:
ALL the 9/11 terrorists were illegal aliens.
Brutal organized crime syndicates help smuggle tens of thousands of illegal aliens over our border every year, and these people support the crime syndicates by obtaining money any way they can get it to pay the crime syndicates to smuggle them over the border; (and among these illegals are many criminals fleeing justice in their homelands.
They drive vehicles without licenses or proper insurance.
They assume several aliases and own several different "ID" cards, so when they get fines or get arrested, they can escape justice.
They do not pay taxes to replace the resources they're draining from our country.
They squeeze the health care system by going to Emergency Wards and skip out on paying for services.
In 2003, 95% of all outstanding warrants for HOMICIDE were illegal aliens.
Two thirds of all fugitive felony warrants, totaling 17,000, were for illegal aliens.
60% of the 20,000-strong '18th Street gang' in southern California was composed of illegal aliens. (These wonderful, hard working 'church goers' do things like deal drugs, rape, kill and rob).
Illegal aliens make up nearly THIRTY PERCENT (30%) of our prison population, (again, draining our economy and resources).
So, where would you deport American citizens to?
"...It's not a news story, it's a recon."
I have to agree with you. They are up to no good.
The truth is that CIA-US trained Mexican military units are smuggling drugs and people into our country. These commandos are active in seven U.S. states and control the drug trade. The Mexican military acts as security for drug smuggling and people smugglers. This is the result of NAFTA's misguided efforts to create free trade between the US and Mexico. Soon, our problems will worsen with the looming passage of CAFTA.
You can blame the U.S. Congress, both Democrats and Republicans equally. I have seen nothing but praise for NAFTA and CAFTA on the lips of Republicans lately. Live with it!
"It's not a news story, it's recon"
Apply a little creativity to this problem. The porous border is no secret to our enemy. Who is anyone kidding to think otherwise?
However, if you grant Al Jazeera the interview and show them how porous the border in fact is on TV, don't you think that would cause some outrage and ultimately a political firestorm resulting in a positive reaction (tightening of border security) in the end?
I do. Use these guys toward a positive end, even if they are slime. As bizarre as it may seem to some, this idea is probably the fastest way to seal the border than any other I've seen, given the political realities.
You are absolutely correct. They are going to point to our loose border control and contrast that with the fact that we are trying to keep anyone from crossing from Iran or Syria into Iraq. They are going to paint us a world class hypocrites, again...
A few FReeper's got on the train from LaLa Land and missed their stop. Blackbird.
