A Supervisor I used to work under was raised in North Dakota during the 1940's.
(Comparable latitude and geography)
Hot Summers, Brutal Winters and lots of open spaces.
The concept of wide open spaces appeals to the pioneer genes that I carry, despite never living anywhere but in a big city.
