"He survived for 11 days before succumbing to his injuries." My first thought was, yesssss! Much more satisfying than if she had offed him with a bullet to the brain. 11 days traded for 7 years of anguish. He got off easy.

Yes. Unforgiven is a great movie. I thought of that scene when I read this article. Part of me wanted to cheer the mother, yet I realized what she did was take the law into her own hands and rushed the Lord's work just a bit.
On a lighter note (no pun intended), but along the same lines, have you ever seen Payback, starring Mel Gibson?

A Spanish mother has taken revenge on the man who raped her 13-year-old daughter at knifepoint by dousing him in petrol and setting him alight. The rapist come to realize that the mother was hotter than the daughter.
