If they can't invade Taiwan in the next 2 years, they will in the next 5 or 10.
The Chinese are patient people, and there's nothing we can do to stop them from bulding a very powerful military machine, like ours.
In the past, China was not an expansionist power, and I doubt that they seek to be this time, but for Taiwan.

From what I recall, China has border disputes with every single one of its neighbours. It makes claims on several 1000s of sq.miles of land belonging to india , Russia and smaller neighbours (esp. islands in the south china sea). It justifies centuries old mercantile ties as reason enough for extending Chinese dominion (e.g. Tibet, and claims on Sikkim, Ladakh and Arunachal). I mean, I could go on and on but your opinion of china's 'peaceable-ness' is woefully flawed, my friend.
