Both Hagel and McCain DOA with the Republican base who votes in primaries. How many centrist voters do we have as a lot of McCain voters in 2000 were Democrats registering as Republicans -- haven't met a lot of centrist voters that vote everytime in a primary.

"Also, he could have a stronger appeal among more conservative Republicans due to his criticism of the deal to head off a filibuster over judicial nominees - a deal McCain supported."

Which may be the FIRST "conservative" stance this "Republican" has taken.

Neither one of these guys has a snowball's chance in Hell of getting the Republican nomination.

Anything that splits the maverick vote is a good thing. Neither will go anywhere with the base.

The are both political whores who count on the ignorance of their audience and bed the MSM daily for career advancement.

Which proves they can get nowhere without sleeping with the enemy, this is not CIC material.

Recent history demonstrates that sitting members of either House are not elected President. That is why the Pubbies better be looking who is sitting on Governor's bench. How about a real conservative, like Sanford from S.C.? He could take back conservatism after that boy Lindsey Graham is giving it away.

Let the jockeying begin...inevitable as it must be.
Unity and calls for it may seem pointless.
Particularly in light of the apparent lack of it in the insanity of current Democrat bedlam.
And perhaps because of the seriousness of these deadly times coherence must replace old-style bombast and PR show boating.
McCain and Hagel are ours. Like 'em or not..
Let's deploy them for maximum effect.

This piece of drivel was a Newsmax article? What, did they get a liberal editor in there who is having a bit of late April Fools Day joke?

Earth to Editor - over 70% of Americans think that Gitmo is either just fine or just too damn comfy for those terrorists. Anyone who runs for the Republicans had best have a clean record on Gitmo statements, and ideally, keep his mouth shut during the campaign as well.

So Hagel or McCain? Gee, that's like choosing between a tea spoon or a table spoon of draino. Both suck and one just might be enough to kill you.

McC has a little posse that he controls. Hagel, Graham, the dimwitted New Englanders, Snow, Collins, Chaffee......

Rather pathetic bunch of losers.

Both of these guys are opportunists and will go nowhere in the runup to the next presidential primary.

I'm not too hip on any Senator running for President. We need a good conservative with Executive experience.

Hagel is a bagel and a bagel has a hole
Hagel sounds like bagel but the bagel's got a soul

Hagel likes to finagle
but Prez wont be his label!

Hagel= gutless, spineless RINO MSM panderer.

Sen. George Allen for Prez.

I still wish there were some way to get Dick Cheney to reconsider his decision not to run for the presidency in '08. Personally, I believe that he would succeed on issues of border control and dealing with the U.N. PROPERLY (as in, kicking their asses OUT of here), where the current administration has (to be kind now) been 'less than stellar' in those areas?

As a footnote, the Vice President laid a major smackdown on Hagel this past week, describing Hagel as an 'armchair quarterback' regarding Hagel's whining and wringing of his hands about our (ahem) "Iraqi Quagmire"...I said 'DAMN STRAIGHT Mr. Vice President!!!'

The only threat Hagel poses to McCain is for the title of "Loudest Boos" at the Iowa Straw Poll in August 2007. I'll be there, booing them both.

Conservatives don't want either one of these moderates to be president. Both would have trouble in the primary. Pro-choice Rudy will also have trouble in the primary. The only one who can beat Hillary is John McCain, but which party does he belong to?

Hagel, a "Maverick Republican," Threatens McCain

If Democrats are allowed to vote twice, Hagel is not a threat to McCain.
