I too had a great time visiting over there, and even though we are American had no problem getting around. We just spent 10 days in Moscow, and the propaganda in the quoted article could't be farther from the truth. The Jewish-ancestry mayor of Moscow, Luzhkov, is still in power. The synagogue is still standing beautiful as ever. There was not a sinlge anti-Semitic sign, book, poster, anything.

How do we get people to pay attention to reality?

We need a better public education system in this country.

Were you in Tbilisi or Moscow or both?

I can only imagine that Tbilisi will be wonderful for you.

Our President said it was his favorite foreign country, among all he had visited. He was there about a week before I was.

Here's a jewel of a quote from BringBack excusing Islam.

Just as the PLO does not represent palestinian or Arab interests, the "Islamic fundamentalists" are not religious in nature. Rather, all these organizations have been created, supported, and directed by the Communists, operating on orders emanating from Moscow

From this thread: Russia will preserve its positions in Iran under any president

Ever notice how all these hate filled individuals are also the ones with the huge egos about how they personally change history or are the greatest communist hunters in the world or some other such?

I think they are sad, actually. They can't see the destruction of our own constitution right before their eyes.

Sorry the sentence was confusing. By "over there" I meant "Russia and vicinity", and we were in Moscow only. We had a chance to visit Sretensky Monastery (founding in hon of the Vladimir icon of the Mother of God, and now a major publishing house), Donskoy Monastery (founded to defend against the Tatars), and look inside the Andronikov Monastery (where Andrey Rublev lived in the 1400's), and visit many churches with the faithful happily practicing their faith. Not one sermon mentioned the Jews, and had more to do with living ther Gospel.

Never once in our 7 trips to Russia have we so much as met a person saying an unkind word about Jewish people, and as I said there are no such posters. Also since I can read Russian very well, I can affirm that I didn't see a single anti-Semitic book on display, even in bookstores on back streets. For a society that is supposedly founded on, and has its entire existence centered around, anti-Semitism, that is certainly an odd way to act.

I can report that I had several conversations with people there, and the good news is that they ARE deeply suspicious of George Soros, and are happy he was booted out of Russia. Propaganda articles such as these may be his revenge, but it won;t work, since the true state of affairs is easier to access then ever before.

Fantasies of grandure and self-delusions make up for a lot of lacking in one's life. Had one of them (spanalot) squak about he prefers to sneak up on commies and cut their throats. Spoken like a keyboard commando. I asked him in what game.

But you two tried to trash the thread with off-topic comments. But thanks for showing us more about Russian thinking in a certain Russian political information effort.

...back to the topic that you sought (unsuccessfully) to divert attention from.

It appears that "racist incitement and anti-Russian material" is against the law in Russia. ...problem is, the Russian State Prosecutor is questioning a rabbi to see if some old Jewish law fits the description of the crime (and it doesn't). He's doing that as a result of 500 letters sent to him by "public figures."

..."anti-Russian material," eh? Even Cuba was smart enough to recently get that out of her Constitution so she could further conceal it. But apparently, it's still illegal in Russia.

And gee, we really got in the way of all those hundreds of other freepers who were so interested in this thread. Next time we'll stay away and see if you can hit ten posts.

Oh my God, 500 you don't say? I bet we could find five times as many in Hollyweird alone who'd express the exact same sentiments.

That's untrue. Even the denizens of Hollywood have not declared the code of Jewish halakhic law to be anti-American or a racist incitement.

20 members of the Russian State Duma (lower house of Russian Parliament) wanted to prohibit "all religious and ethnic Jewish organizations as extremist."

Proportionally, that would be like having about 19 of our US House of Representatives (out of 435, total) do the same, but not even one have made any such demand. Comparisons on the matter to our USA are misleading and anti-American.

And yet no Jew or half Jew has ever been president or vice president. We've had one Catholic and catholics are 20% of the population. Why?

Oh, and this anti-semite threads have been disproven on several occassions yesterday already, not to mention last fall when they first came up. Best you go to Israel and tell all those jews moving back to Russia to stop.

Just out of curiosity, ever been to Russia?
