Baghdad, 27 June (AKI) - The right hand man of Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is thought to have died in the same US aid raid, on the town of al-Qaim near the Syrian border, in which the wanted Saudi Abdullah Rushud lost his life. Abu al-Ghadiya al-Suri's death was reported by the Arab newspaper Al-Hayat, which cited a source close to al-Qaeda as confirming that al-Suri was killed several days ago, around the time Rushud's death was announced in a statement attributed to al-Zarqawi.
In an interview with Al-Hayat, Islamic terrorism expert Marwan Shahada, said only Rushud's death was announced by al-Qaeda in Iraq so as not to weaken the morale of its fighters. Al-Suri's links to al-Zarqawi date back to when they trained together in the camps of Herat in western Afghanistan. Shahada believes the death of the two senior al-Qaeda figures is proof that the US forces have been very successful in their fight against al-Qaeda.
Abu al-Ghadiya al-Suri is considered one of the leading members of the Jund al-Sham organisation, founded with al-Zarqawi in 1999 in Herat. The two of them moved, first to Iran and then to Iraq, where he also helped found the Tawhid and Jihad group before joining al-Qaeda and swearing loyalty to Osama bin Laden. He is considered the brains behind al-Zarqawi's group and the mediator between the Jordanian and Syrian Islamic groups. His name is among the defendents listed in a trial for an attack against the headquarters of the Jordanian secret services in the capital Amman.

Zarqawi's right hand man might have been killed ping!
Hope this report is accurate.
How many right hand men does he have?
Surely we've killed or captured a dozen of them so far.
Considering that Zarqawi is probably operating out of Syria or Iran I think he is pretty safe for the time being. But, what really needs to continue to happen is we need to continue to dismantle his network piece by piece.
Seems like he has hundreds of high ranking people around him...
Which reminds me, we haven't heard much from the cowardly scumbag osama baracka, I mean Obama, uh, bin laden lately.
Zarqauwi is like that knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail at this point. "It's a flesh wound! Get back here!"
Medias take: "but what about Gitmo?"
Job Opening!
Wait a little... he is "the brains", and "the right hand" at the same time. Zarqawi must have a very unusual anatomy, worse than Frankenstein. I would bet that the next one to kiss the dust will turn out to be Zarqawi's "big toe", or maybe his "rectal beard".
I can see Zarqawi's ad in Monstor.com
"High level executive seeks replacements for vice presidents. Must be able to relocate quickly. Good background in small team efforts. Commission only position with unusually good death benefits. "
Each and every one of these thugs we kill does the World much good - however if we got al-suri this is definitely a sweet kill - we've been hunting him specifically for over a year -
We need Zarqawi! The whole ruse they pulled about him being injured seems to have shaken us from his OODA loop for a bit.
Need a better source.
Wanted: Right hand man
Job description includes catching coalition ammunition. Left hand, optional.
Ha ha. Yours was funnier.
Source ?
his right hand man must be a women or a child.
If anyone sees, or has an up to date photo of a living Zarqawi, I wish that they would please ping me to it.
I do not get to follow the news as much as I would prefer lately. I sort of had the impression that he was dead already.
I simply don't know because I am that preoccupied. I do however try to keep up with my pings every other day or so.
