Democrats report no abuse at Gitmo
The Washington Times ^ | Tuesday, June 28, 2005 | Stephen Dinan

Two Democratic senators just back from reviewing U.S. detention facilities and interrogations at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, said they saw no signs of abuse and said it would actually be worse to close the facility and transfer the detainees elsewhere. "I strongly prefer the improved practices and conditions at Camp Delta to the outsourcing of interrogation to countries with a far less significant commitment to human rights," said Sen. Ron Wyden, Oregon Democrat, who toured the U.S. facility along with Sen. Ben Nelson, Nebraska Democrat. The two Democrats were joined on the trip by two Republicans, Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky and Sen. Michael D. Crapo of Idaho. Their characterization contrasts with critics, including Democratic Party leaders, who have called for the camp to be closed as a bruise on America's human rights record. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California called for a commission to document abuses at Guantanamo and worldwide, while the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, two weeks ago compared interrogation tactics at Guantanamo to those used during the Nazi and Soviet regimes.

Guess someone at the Democratic Party took a poll or stuck a finger in the air and decided, Gitmo is ok. Sort of a good cop bad cop. They reach all sides. Will these guys get in trouble for saying there are no problems, we will see.

They didn't have to travel to Gitmo to find ABUSE, all they needed to do was take the subway to the NYTimes building where they manufacture Gitmo abuse, if you know what I mean.

Yeah and I think we are going to see some revolts from the far left in the future. What "mainstream" Democrats are left must know they can't win as long as Moveon.org and the Deaniacs control the party.

I think hell froze over last night when I heard Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee indicate that there was no abuse at Gitmo. She was part of the House delegation. Wow! Kinda puts Turban and Nancy al-Pelosi in a box.

No abuse at Gitmo-----

Wha?? No abuse?? Having to see and visit with Sheila Jackson Lee with that faux turban on her head is abuse enough for our soldiers AND for the terrorists.

The poll must have been
"need Gitmo: 86%";
"don't need America haters: 86%".

Numbers based on previous poll wherein 14% totally agreed with Durbin Laden.

I would hope that objective reality had something to do with this, but I guess I'm just kidding myself again, huh?

Jim Cooper from TN went also and reported no problems. Now will the NYT shut its pie hole?

I really like this game. With no facts, make charges of "abuse". Then when you make a serious effort to find the facts. You discover your chargers have always been without merit. You then call the situation "improved" so you don't have to apologize for all the garbage you throw around for months.

Now will the NYT shut its pie hole?

Not bloody likely. So long as there is a Republican president, or Republican Congress... heck, so long as a single Republican exists, the NYT will continue to make baseless charges.

"Lets face it, Democrats are the American Terrorists."

Pull quote from The Adventures of Chester.*

ADD: How would we best classify the NYT?

* All praise and glory to "Herb".

Of course ... when you are sensitive, enlightened and always "for the little guy" (unless he owns a house standing in the way of a health club) it's your duty to throw around allegations based on "the seriousness of the charges" rather than the "nature of the evidence".

They always have it both ways - do everything they can to hamstring GWB and then when things don't go smoothly blame GWB instead of the hamstringing.

Sen. Michael D. Crapo of Idaho

That's a hell of a name to be saddled with.

Okay, this story made it into the Washington Times. Now when might we expect the mainstream media to mention it? That's what I thought!
