when you look at it from the point of view that these are the senior members of the 2 most powerful political families in the country being best pals (in public of course), it is somewhat disconcerting.

I think it's good. While it should be disconcerting, it's better to have it it all out in the open. The political and economic elite in this country, whether Democrat or Republican, is one giant clique. Despite all of the ideological rantings and ravings on websites like FR and DU, these people, despite being on different sides of the aisle, have a lot more in common with each other than they do with you and me.

Does this have the effect of legitimizing the Clintons -- and making it easier for Hillary to peddle her "mainstream" shtick as she runs for president?
