Iraqi PM slams Arab media

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari criticized Arab media, accusing them of being biased and hostile to his country. In an interview published by the London-based Arabic daily al-Sharq al-Awsat, Jaafari said, "Arab media are still hostile and biased, especially the satellite Arab televisions."

He stressed that crimes are committed in Iraq, but the Arab media don't refer to them as acts of terrorism. "The brave Iraqi policeman and soldier are killed, but this is not called terrorism, pure Iraqi women are murdered but this is not described as terrorism, the innocent Iraqi child is killed but this is not terrorism according to the Arab media," he added. The Iraqi leader conveyed that Arab channels ignore the fact that many Iraqi women are murdered after being raped by the "enemy of the Iraqi nation."

Prime Minister, we understand all too well about the insurgents called "media". Just keep hitting them back with the Truth.

hey, its good he is speaking out on this.

he should also organize some pro-american rallies by the iraqi people - we need some good PR coming out of there. perhaps the iraqis should fly the US flag on July 4th.

Good article. Will be interesting to see the response from the Arab media.

Nice to hear a country with a large Muslim population finally stating the obvious: people who target and kill civilians are terrorist. No, they are not freedom fighters, etc. They are murderers.

This is an important first step towards cleaning up the mess in the Middle East -- delegitimizing terrorists.

Another not so obvious benefit from our invasion of Iraq.

"accusing them of being biased and hostile to his country."

Sounds like the American media.

The Pro-American rally concept is sound, but such a rally would be a focal point for every suicide bomber in the country. The only way it would work is if it were held in the Green Zone under tight security.

Or perhaps some pro Iraqi rallies celebrating their recent victory in having 8 million adult Iraqis vote in a free election. Give it the new Iraqi slant. Iraq, a nation that will fight for the freedom of all peoples, honor minority rights, and protect these freedoms of liberty for all with a well written consitution.

We the People of Iraq, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the New Federation of Iraq.

Then throw a big party in all the provinces. Parades. Public oratories by local politicians celebrating their long hard road to democracy. And as any lest suspicous person is viewed, grab em. If any car, truck is seen approaching a crowd, all peoples including women whip out their AK47's
a fill the truck/car with lead.

It's not just the Arab media. The American and European media is beginning to be loathed in Iraq. They are going to seriously reget their actions someday because Iraq is going to be a leader in the ME. Other Arab countries will listen to what they have to say and the media is going to be seriously hurt.
