I have heard before that whatever the military is currently using is decades behind what it is currently developed. I don't endorse any measure of military production to China but if the government allows transfer to happen you have to wonder why, and are they already planning the next level of warfare not far from reality.

Check this article out.
http://www.sundayherald.com/36926 I have see something about this on the History Channel too, pretty cool stuff.

The source is a pair of lying-sack-of-s*** Democrats (I know, I'm being redunant).

Is this part of the article (not quoting or coming from either of the DemoRats) a true statement?

According to the Department of Defense, eighty percent of the rare-earth magnets used in production of “smart bombs” come from the Valparaiso facility.

Great idea! Why didn't we think of this during WWII. If the bombs are assembled by the ones most like to need bombing, just think of the savings, cheap labor, and zero delivery to target, cost..........but shouldn't we, if that is the ploy, be having our bombs assembled by the Iranians or North Korea? Oh......maybe those are our bombs the axis of evil twins are assemblying? I'll bet they promised us free delivery too.

WOW! haven't read the thread yet.

Absolutely staggering information.

The very thing we think the government is on top of and preventing is apparently waived because of a few Senators, department heads and A COOPERATING US FIRM.

Obviously when they have it all, they will not give us access to necessary missile and high tech parts; unless they are faulty in some way.

WISE UP ...WAKE UP ... the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.

Each hand is eagerly grabbing money ... and too bad for anyone else.

Freaking unbelievable.

What can stop it now? Be scared!

Be sure this is not the only incidence of critical technology being bought and spirited away.!!!!!!!!!

STOP IT! STOP IT!

God help us.

SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON OF CURRENT CHINESE NAVY AND US NAVY (Soon to be an FR thread)

THE RAPID GROWTH AND MODERNIZATION OF THE CHINESE NAVY

THE RISING SEA DRAGON IN ASIA

TODAY'S FREE TRADE IS NOT ABOUT THE FREE MARKET

The Red Chinese know exactly what they are doing. I pray we are actively working to thwart it, and are prepared.

Since National Security appears to be a bad joke because of things like this and many other things like this.. including wide open borders..

What is the punch line.?.

The punch line could be a rush to Globalism.. which trumps any military options.. and also lays the possibility of shadow governments, not only here in the U.S. but in any country that could be a threat to Globalism.. Many over the years have layed out scenarios promising/threatening Global government.. I always considered the world too disorganized for that to happen..

Watching the U.S. governments actions lately(12 years) or so, it seems to be a definite possibility.. The lie of the demise of communism instead of the spread of it, is only a hint.. Communism has gone stealth and the U.S. government seems to be clueless.. another hint.. If the entire american democrat party is not in effect the communist party under new management I'll eat your hat..

The threat as I see it happening is not for WAR its for a Global Cabal coming to power AND that is IF they are NOT already IN power NOW.. American federal government operates NOW as if they were good commie, bad commie.. The democrats have BEEN penetrated fully, and republicans are BEING penetrated fully..

Which brings me back to what I'VE been advocating...
A.. S.T.A.M.P.E.D.E.. You know... sheeple stampeding..
Jeff if you THINK you're not a sheeple you might be mistaken.. I know I am.. I have another "hint".. massive voter fraud and the republican party "acts" like its not happening.. and does vertiably NOTHING about it.. Nothin'... Don't that seem a little strange to you.?.. Maybe Bush winning(2000,2004) was planned and was to SUPPOSE to happen..

Could be "our betters" are way far ahead of us.. and except for a stampede we're screwed.. Enter the Patriot Act.. which makes a Stampede ILLEGAL.. You know what I mean, and I know you do.. So whats holding up the stampede.?. I have the answer.. hangers on.. Optimists looking for a Utopian outrage that will never happen, thats what.. By the way did you notice how "EMPTY" the July 4th celebrations were this year.?. I did, strangly empty.. they were.. Can't put my finger on it.. A little too much glitz, too much fireworks, and no, or little substance.. it was different in some way..

"Is this part of the article (not quoting or coming from either of the DemoRats) a true statement?"

Given that it's coming from Democrats, you cannot conclude that it IS a true statement unless you personally verify it as true.

I've caught more than one Democrat saying "The Department of Defense said blahblahblah" and discovering that the DoD said no such thing.

I recommend you see the movie Deterrence.

...and what are we suppossed to do about China buying American companies? I would like to see some legislation that could delay a purchanse like this if it was dangerous to the national security.

So does anyone know what became of the JDAMS manufacturing operation and did the plant shutdown?

Don't know, but there are two possibilities. First some other contractor may be supplying the magnets for the servo manufacturer, or that manufacturer may be buying them from the Chinese plant.

Given how much such magnets are used, I can't imagine that this was the only US plant making, or capable of making them.

National defense industries are EXEMPT from the patent laws or copyright laws.

What makes you think that? If they were none would bother filing patents, nor fight for their intellectual property rights. Believe me, they do both. In fact they fight for proprietary rights to stuff they developed on your nickle, if only they put in a penny or two of their own to prime the pump.

National defense industries are exempt from patent laws -- this is fact. They also don't publish their findings (i.e. they don't apply for patents), because doing so would also violate national security act. They're free to use any patents they want without royalties.

In other words, they're free to use commercial patents without royalty and they dont' publish their work on public patents like commercial entities. When you get a patent, you HAVE to disclose how it works, so by disclosing it, you're giving away secrets.

At this point, there are finally those in the administration and within our planning community in the military who are starting to listed.
Isn't that nice! They're A LITTLE FRIGGING LATE TO THE SHOW!! No, make that A LOT FRIGGING LATE TO THE SHOW!!
Oh no, Joe Sixpack isn't smart enough to think like that. He's a kook and a crackpot who doesn't have any idea of what he's talking about. He surely can't be smarter than the folks we have here else he would be here as well, 'cause we have the smartest people in the world working here.

Must've been worrying about job security when they should've been worrying about life security.

"National defense industries are exempt from patent laws -- this is fact."

It is a fact they are not exempt.

"(...they don't apply for patents)

Aerospace and Defense companies have vigorous patent filing programs complete with patent counsel (or, as they are usually called today, "intellectual property counsel"). Patent filings are routinely made.

"...doing so would also violate national security act."

No it wouldn't. The procedures for filing classified patent applications is well understood by company patent counsel.

Where on earth did you get your information? You're spreading a lot of misinformation.

I always thought that one day, when China has everything they need, they will just seize our factories, invade other nations, and dare us to do something about it. What could we do? THEY OWN OUR SMART BOMB FACTORIES!!!

Either that or Earth's leaders are aware of a pending invasion of space aliens and are doing everything possible to help arm China, since only China has a population large enough and brave enough to fight the space monsters. Of course our leaders can not tell us about the soon to be inter galactic space war, but the alien fleet is only a few years away from Earth. Ok now you decide, ruling class elites selling out the USA for greed and profit .... or ..... alien invasion imminent.
