I've had semi auto's hand guns jam on me, admittedly it was a cheap 380, but I've had expense semi auto rifles/shotguns jam too. That is why I like revolvers for a hand gun. Would not want a jam at the wrong time. Other then the 357 that I keep near by, all my other weapons are semi auto.

A good semiauto with ball or carefully tested JHP ammo is only slightly less likely to malfunction than a good revolver these days.

I dislike revolvers because of the high felt recoil, slow first shot and follow-up time, low ammo capacity, and high trigger effort (in a revolver, trigger weight is directly related to the amount of force exerted by the hammer on the firing pin and thus the primer.) If you lighten the trigger, you might get light primer strikes that are marginal for your chosen ammo (plenty of horror stories out there about discovering that your newly-smithed wheelgun won't go "bang" with your ammo).

Typically, with a Browning High Power, by the time the typical wheelgunner gets his second aimed shot off I'm on my sixth or seventh aimed round. And I'm just average in terms of speed. There's one guy around Dallas that fires (accurately!) off an entire Springfield doublestack 1911 in one long burst that makes it sound like an automatic weapon. Gets 9 out of 10 in the ten ring at 15 meters.

What is a fine young man doing in the Peoples Republic of Berkeley?

You know, you find salt everywhere.
Salt is what keeps the whole thing from rotting from the inside.
Salt, even in Berkeley, apparently is a good thing.

The young man is, or at least was that night, acting as 'salt' for the city/neighborhood. saved the girls life.
Folks who run over other people to kill them... also won't leave rape victims behind to id them.

You are right. He is a "salt of the earth" kind of guy.

A little update. There is a picture of him on page B1 of the San Francisco Chronile (total DemoRat rag, btw) and he is a kind, innocent-looking "Baby Huey" type of a kid. He is only 19 years old but he was hanging out with a gorgeous, 22 year old volleyball star -- a real beautiful mocha chocolate babe. He has got some moxie in him. Great kid.

Yep these are the only ones you hear about:

No Bail For Baseball Bat Hate Crime Suspect

Jun 30, 2005 5:35 pm US/Eastern

HOWARD BEACH (AP) A white man was arraigned on a hate crime charge today for allegedly menacing three black men, critically injuring one with a baseball bat, in Howard Beach, Queens.

Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Minucci, was charged with first-degree assault as a hate crime, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. He's now being held without bail. His friend, 22-year-old Anthony Ench, was arrested today and a third man is being sought.

One of the white men reportedly shouted "This is what you get if you want to rob white boys," finishing the remark with a racial slur.

Queens prosecutors say Minucci confessed to the assault. But Minucci's attorney claims that the victim, Glen Moore, had attempted to rob the suspect earlier while threatening him with a screwdriver.

Two of the three black men told investigators they were in the neighboring Lindenwood section early yesterday looking for a luxury sedan to steal but changed their minds....
