Interesting how the title could easily have been "Car Thieves beaten in Queens neighborhood."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he and the police commissioner would not allow such "an ugly incident" to divide the city

Un-freaking-believable

It's not the ugly incident that is dividing the city - it's the day in day out never ending (that is their only job) crime that is dividing the city.

Unless the attackers somehow knew what these guys were thinking (impossible) then their intention to steal a car is meaningless.

The fact that guido went to get a couple of friends before jumping these guys makes it pre-meditated.

Howard Beach has changed in complexion since the 80s but the new-comers are not black. The prototypical guido-hitter mentality is still there (obviously) but this blatant action surprises me.

I'm sure the three black Car Thieves backed down when this kid came at them with a bat.
