Web page reveals addresses of campaign donors. (this sux!)
http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php ^

Posted on 07/01/2005 1:24:47 PM PDT by Names Ash Housewares

Can they do this? I am not thrilled that my home address and place of employment appears now from a simple google search because of this web page....

http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php

I know we must keep track of who contributes to campaigns but zip code should be enough. Not the home address! They have ignored my emails thus far.

So, I cant participate in democracy by donating to republican candidates without losing a level of personal security?

This sux.

This was already public info before CFR.

This info is public. If you don't like it, don't donate.

"Has it happened? If anything I think you may be called for polls or such."

Nothing yet, probably wont be anything. But I am a well armed male. Imagine someone stalking a young woman. Bingo, I know where she works, I know where she lives. That is not right. Zip code should be enough. Nobody needs know your exact address for this kind of thing.

My zip code revealed almost all donations going to the DNC, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Wes Clark, and even some for Dennis Kucinich.

The amazing thing is, you can get the home address for some people that are rather famous...

They could get your phone number through a public records search. Of course, they would have to pay for it.

Give your business address or something. That usually works.

I think donations only greater than $250 are public.

Hmmm. I'm guessing that
people like Mischa Barton
will not be listed . . .

Mine, too. That's what I get for living in Boulder County. I made several contributions but my name didn't show on the list - interesting.

It's public. So are some state contributions.

I don't like it either, but it's public record. We have full disclosure in my state.

You can bet that a sharp campaign will be checking the donor lists of their election opponent, and if they find fake addresses, it's not going to look good for the side you donated to.

A) Nobody is likely to check because of the size of donations that I make, and because I'm a nobody. B) If they did, the "Whoops I transposed digits" defense would work fine. C) I've been doing this for a couple of decades and nobody has tumbled to it. I imagine that there's a big pile of campaign mail in that vacant lot, however.

Of course, if you donate chump change like me, your name won't come up at all on most reports, lists or searches.

I guess that's why I didnt' show up - lol

Seriously, I donated as much as I could at the time...

In my zip code there are probably 300 names total with only about 10% of those donating the DNC candidates. About half of the people who donated to DNC candidates are college professors or teachers.

Most people with publish numbers also have an address in the phone book.

Ever googled your phone number?
