The desperation displayed by the right and particularly the left to have the court packed to their taste suggests that they cannot get their way by parliamentary legislative means but only be extra-parliamentary means -- manipulating the Supreme court and it's interpretation of the Constitution of the United States of America. This is disturbing for it reveals that our democratic form of government is under threat -- the more strident the rhetoric, the more threat is revealed. The abortion issue should be a matter for legislation rather than an unseemly mud slinging yelling match, with all the gravitas of a college basketball game with its squiggles and "so long as our side wins" fanatics. Those who scream "Abortion on demand", including within the birth canal, are bad wrong, as are those who scream life at conception, for their past actions deny their claims -- how many spontaneous miscarriages have the interned with a church service? Both sides are lying, both sides are wrong and neither side will ever give ground because they cannot be seen by themselves to have lost.
