That's distressing news, and I hope no foul play is involved. Kids did used to wander off and get lost in cornfields, but I don't like the sound of this. My prayers are with those of the other poster that she be found, soon and safe. Floyd is slightly NE of Des Moines and about 50 miles south of the MN border.

These cases should always be the main focus of the news every night.

These cases should always be the main focus of the news every night.

They usually are on the local/area news.

I was hoping I would wake up to better news this morning.

Lately, the odds seem to be pointing to family friends or friends of friends.

In my day, we didn't "screen" people like we should now.

The first rule of parenting NOW should be doing everything in your power to control who has access to your children. It's usually not a good idea to leave them with males (sorry guys) or females with strange male companions who will get anywhere near them, and that is very hard to do, but it MUST be done; it's getting that dangerous.

Young people haven't accumulated a file in their minds of news stories where you see patterns and tend to be more careless and carefree about leaving their kids with the boyfriend who may have his friends around. Tragedies have happened even with more educated males. No child in our country is really safe any more.

Even at my age, I don't know how you screen "trusted" male friends and even some female ones.
