Minceberg just said that Orin Hatch recommended Ruth Bader Ginsburg to slick willie.

Why do I not believe that spin.

It was Ginsburg's husband who was the prime mover behind her appointment to the USSC.

Hatch's story re: Clinton/Ginsburg has been documented. Those names were offered as ones that would not create a war. The point was; back in those days the President was ceded authority to pick almost anyone he wanted and get him confirmed.

To clarify, Hatch did not recommend Ginsburg, but reported that his committe wouldn't fight that particular nomination, despite her way lefty leanings.

I heard Hatch on H & C say that very thing. He suggested to Slick Willie that he thought he could Ginsberg confirmed by the Senate if he nominated her. Bill said I will look in to it. The rest is history.
