Eyewitness: The Media-Reported "Lynch" was Staged
Israel National News (Arutz 7) ^ | July 3, 2005

Posted on 07/03/2005 9:03:51 AM PDT by Alouette

"A young Palestinian boy lynched by Jewish rock-throwers is in mortal condition." So repeated public Israeli news reports late last week - while in fact, the entire affair was staged by reporters.

The story began last Sunday in northern Gush Katif. The army demolished several abandoned structures, in fear that the Jewish residents would camp out there before and during the disengagement. The Gush Katif residents then responded by taking over another abandoned building nearby - and on Wednesday morning, IDF forces arrived to empty out the building.

Several yeshiva students were taken out peacefully - one was caught on camera being carried out as he continued to study Mishna (the Oral Law) - but then things began to heat up. According to the press reports, youngsters on the roof "infuriated the local population" by writing on the outside wall of the building, in Hebrew, "Muhammed Pig!" The Arabs then began to hurl rocks at the Jews, the Jews responded in kind, and the soldiers were not able to restore peace.

An eyewitness on the scene - who wishes to be known only as A.D. - said, however, that this was not what happened. "No, no," he told Arutz-7 today. "The Arabs there don't even know how to read Hebrew. What happened was that one Jew threw rocks, and then about 30 Arabs came out and started pounding everything in sight with rocks. It was a terrible disgrace for the IDF - I came home all in shock at what I had seen. The soldiers were simply unable to protect themselves from this onslaught, even though the Arabs were pounding the jeeps and everything. The only time the soldiers did something real was when the Jews started throwing rocks back! But now I understand how the intifada started - because the Arabs who live in this area - the Muwasi - they are very quiet; they never threw rocks at all. But now they see that the army is so weak, they realize that they have nothing to be afraid of. They were really pounding us."

The main story of the day, however, was the alleged "lynching" of a young Arab boy. Israel Radio and Army Radio continually used this word to describe what happened, and Israeli television stations showed footage of an Arab lying on the ground and then two Jewish boys running towards him and throwing rocks at him.

"That's not the story!" said A.D. "I saw this same Arab get hit in the head with a rock - and yet he continued to throw rocks, like a tiger, for the next 15 minutes! And then I saw some reporters go over to him and tell him to lie down and act as if he was unconscious. Later on, he was taken out walking on his own, holding on to a soldier; all this talk of his being mortally wounded is total nonsense. In addition, he was taken to a hospital in Gaza; if he was really mortally wounded, they would have taken him to Soroka in Be'er Sheva."

In fact, media reports continued throughout the next day to report that he was still mortally wounded - though even Arab sources had admitted by then that he had "regained consciousness," was talking and felt fine. By Friday, the victim of the alleged "lynching" was reported to be "lightly hurt."

A.D. said that a friend of his was also there at the time, saw the same thing and could corroborate the story. "The problem is that he works for a certain media source and refuses to talk to anyone in the media about it," A.D. said.

Prime Minister Sharon took advantage of the "lynching" reports to promote his political agenda. "The attack on the Palestinian teenager is a barbaric, wild and heartless act," Sharon told the Yediot Acharonot newspaper. "What is happening in front of our eyes is not a battle over disengagement from Gaza, but a battle over the image of the state. This is not a situation I will allow to continue."

If you'd like to be on or off this middle east/political ping list, please FR mail me.

Not the first time this has happened.

Witness the poor palestinian being beaten by the police, printed on the front page worldwid.

That he was a Jewish kid from Chicago being protected from the palestinians beating him didn't make page 29 in most papers.

Ah.. restoring a part of civilization to it's natural chaos.

Brings back fond memories of the death of Apartheid, and the return of the dark continent to total barbarity.

Wonder how much of the planet we are willing to return to savagery... Never enough for those who desire death.

Wakes up the young anarchist in me... Think I'll buy yet another rifle.

Apartheid was injustice, pure and simple. The socialism that followed Apartheid's demise is no better, and in some cases, worst.

Either way, no freedom loving person would defend either Apartheid or what followed it.

I wouldn't want to be in Sharon's shoes when he goes to meet his Maker. I have to restrain myself from saying what springs first to my lips, which is, "May he burn in hell for betraying his people!"

Returning civilization to chaos, that was the point I was trying to make.

There are degrees of separation.

Apartheid was an outrage, granted, but it was not as bad as the chaos that has replaced it. That chaos is indigenous to Africa, and could have been vented in a better manner, IMO.

We will know soon enough as the "democrats" in SA mediate the Mugabe buyout to Paris, amid the starvation of millions of previously civilized Zimbabweans.

Yes it was an outrage, and socialism destroys any nation where it is tried. Still, even in a comparison, I will never say one word in defense of Apartheid.

Not one.

I absolutely respect your opinion.

I feel like a fool if I represented any defense of Apartheid.

Some things are best left to their own devices, Apartheid was one of them.

You prefer millions starving or being murdered (as long as its being done by people of their own race) to peace and relative prosperity under conditions of inequality. Which, looking at the state of sub-Sahara Africa over the last 100 years, seems to be the only two choices

well... if one is given the choice between one evil and another, one does tend to choose the lesser of the two evils, yes?

apartheid was injustice, yes.
what followed is worse, definitely.
what followed was predictable: all of post-colonial Africa provided all the predictive data one could ask for.

Idealism is a good thing, but it has to bow to reality lest it become the worst kind of evil.

Considering the cost imposed on the USA by the Saudi royal family because of our resupply of Israel in the Yom Kippur War, and in light of the insane give away of land being pushed by Sharon, I am beginning to think that the USA should allow the Israeli's to commit suicide.

If they can't learn by now that appeasement never does any good, even after the ovens of Germany and the Mid East wars, perhaps we should not bother any further.

If Jews are going to insist on both socialism in Israel, and Liberal appeasement policies towards the Arabs, it is time for them to accept the consequences of their decisions.

And, as a voter, I am going to keep a close eye on Bush. He had better do something about the Mexican border situation and make clear to the Muslim world that any more acts against us WILL result in the incineration of all Muslim cities and the expulsion of all Muslims from America.

The WW II precedent, set by President Roosevelt with the Japanese internment camps, is a valid point and most relevant to today's situation with the Muslim population in America.

It is most interesting to note that while acts in support of Japan committed by members of the American Japanese were exceeding rare, such is not the case with the Muslims in America.

Look at the Sammi Al Arien case. How many American Muslims called the FBI or even the dog catcher, about all the terrorist fund raisers held in the Mosques? "If you support a terrorist, you are a terrorist".

Show me where any place where a significant portion of the Muslim American population reported even one of the terrorists. Even the most outrageous crimes, such as the beheading, rape of the teen aged daughter, ad nauseam - committed against the Christian family in New jersey didn't result in Muslim help to convict the Jihadi scum.

You are putting words into my mouth here. Let me ask you, are you a defender of Apartheid?

Expanding a bit on my last post: A couple of thousand years ago, the Romans had occupied Britain. The Brits, prior to that point, were bloody-minded savages who did not have much of any home-grown civilization. During the Roman occupation, the native British were in an inferior status to Roman citizens.

But in the 400 years that the Romans occupied Britain, enough of Roman civilization had rubbed off and became internalized that when the Romans finally left, Britain did not completely descend into savagery

Occupation and second-class citizenry is not pleasant. But sometimes, over the long run, it can confer some benefits
