Take a walk down a block from Revolution Books and you'll see a super yuppified Harvard Square. It's funny how "out" communism is - even in the People's Republic of Cambridge.

How do they manage to pay the rent? It is quite a pricy area and a lot of fringe business were driven out by high expenses.

When I was at MIT, I had to write a paper on the philosophy of Dworkin and needed one of his books. I couldnt find it in my library or in any of the bookstores in Cambridge and needed it that night. I went to the front of the Revolution Bookstore, thought about going in because I figured they had to have this book because Dworkin is a big socialist, and then saw their front display and ran away. I was scared for my life and disgusted because I thought I would be murdered. The display advocated murdering the president and I happened to have a Bush button on my backpack at the time.

I walk down to Central Square maybe once a fortnight and I just crack up everytime I see the Marxist Center for Education. Have never seen anyone go in it though :). Between there and the bookstore is the People's Republic bar that looks like a wistful hark back to the Soviet Union and PRC or a parody. Could never tell which.
