I blame Bob Novak for the entire scandal. Why did he need to make such a gratuitous disclosure? IMO, he did it on purpose, just for 15 minutes of fame. He couldn't resist the "big SCOOP," and as a result, he stepped in it. Considering how commonplace it has become to blythly quote "anonymous sources," (while either making them up, or adding editorial comments), Novak could easily have put that juicy item into his column for the pure shock effect of it.

If I am not mistaken, he expressed surprise (mock surprise?) at the time, wondering at the fact that anyone thought it unusual, since "everybody inside the Beltway knows that Joe Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, works as a CIA undercover agent."

I remember reading Novak's remarks at the time, and Rush talked about it extensively.

A

lawyer

for presidential adviser Karl Rove has disclosed that his client spoke with a Time magazine reporter just days before the name of a CIA operative was leaked to the media, but he did not leak the confidential information.

Not exactly an unbiased source of information say I.

Novak is too stupid to be a Republican. I think he must be a Dem plant. Afterall, 95% of all journalists are Dems.

Ive long suspected that Wilson himself was the leak. A request for privacy didn't inspire confidence when they were involved in photo shoots.

First off, Valerie Plame was not undercover at the time, but they say that doesn't matter because if there was purposeful intent to expose her, then it was a violation of the law.

Valeri Plames Boss was a Clinton appointee and he retires a few months after this so called scandal broke. That is who I think it was who spoke to Navak. I can't remember his name (Plames Boss right now, maybe somebody else can remember it

Wilson has in the past said he suspected Rove played a role in revealing his wife's cover.

Uh huh, and this is coming out now as a payback for Rove's comments about Liberal's reaction to 9/11.

When leftist scum revealed information about CIA operatives they were hailed as heroes--even when those operatives were killed. Why the sanctimonious reaction now? That's liberalism for you.

Gratuitous? Joe Wilson was known as a rabidly anti-Bush and anti-War critic and it was a service Novak provided by reporting why he would have been sent to Niger at the behest of the CIA.

If I am not mistaken, he expressed surprise (mock surprise?) at the time, wondering at the fact that anyone thought it unusual, since "everybody inside the Beltway knows that Joe Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, works as a CIA undercover agent."

You are completely mistaken.

Bob Novak explicitly said he was under the impression she was NOT an undercover agent. The public evidence to date continues to point in the direction of analyst, not covert, too.

Novak did a very good thing by revealing what he did and that is why the left has attacked so hard.

The question is, why did Plame want her husband sent on this errand and what was he really doing there.

Problem is Plame was NEVER an undercover agent as meant in the applicable law.

On the other hand she was quite willing to be Wilson's third wife ~ whatever that means ~ Fur Shur I'd never been tempted to date any woman like that.

State Department did keep a team of girls "on call" for certain purposes ~ back in FDR's day, the same team was kept "on call", but had day jobs at Post Office Department headquarters at 12th and Penn. A foreign dignitary, in need, could stop by and see FDR's "fixer" (James Farley, the PMG) and check out the babes in the magnificent third-floor office seemingly designed for that purpose.

What surprises me is that Plame even thought of marriage.

I blame Plame's husband, Joe Wilson, the lying partisan democrat ambassador who made the false complaint in the first place. If the prosecutor nails anybody it should be Wilson.
