The BBC has received about 400 complaints about swearing outbursts by artists performing at Live 8.
Madonna and US star Snoop Dogg were among those to use bad language prior to the 2100 BST watershed.
Shows from 10 cities - including London, Philadelphia, Paris, Berlin, Rome and Moscow - were broadcast live on the BBC on Saturday and Sunday.
The BBC, which did not use a time delay during the broadcast, apologised for the swearing.

Live 8 proves to be a triumph for technology A spokeswoman for the BBC said it had received "just under" 400 complaints about its Live 8 coverage.
She added: "Millions of people enjoyed our 12 hours of live broadcasting.
"We are sorry if any offence was caused."
The number of Live 8 complaints exceeded the 240 complaints made to the BBC in May concerning its new 3D TV weather map.
In June, the BBC received 63 complaints about a scene in the documentary film Martha and Me, in which a chicken was beheaded for an organic meal.

If you have the stomach to watch a Madonna performance, you should be able to endure a few vulgarities. Madonna is a vulgarity, what am I saying?
To: Panerai
Us rock stars are f***ing nothing without all the g*ddamned cursing!
To: Panerai
I wasnt at all offended by their cursing. I didnt watch it.

Ditto. This stuff gets so old. Ego maniacs making themselves feel good....like they're really changing the world. The last aid? aids? concert was supposed to end whatever poverty? aids? i forget which. Well i guess it didn't , so here we are again. I didn't watch either.

If a person has to resort to cursing to get their points across, it is because they have a little mind with a limited vocabulary.

I won't watch anything with Madonna involved. She doesn't want her children to be exposed to things she use to do but does not have a problem exposing other people's children to indecency. She's a has been and cursing isn't going to make her any more hip.

well, what is offensive to me is the fact that in a series of concerts (benefit concerts) to raise awareness and I suppose money for little kids starving in Africa, each performer got a goody bag worth an estimated $12,000. And there were what, over 100 performers around the world? So over a million was spent giving these frauds presents in a concert that was supposed to help starving kids. And we heard about how just a few dollars would save x number of lives. Why not forget the goody bags and donate that money? They are frauds.

It would be interesting to see exactly what the stars did donate besides their time. I'm sure some of them (I would hope) would have donated an amount exceeding what the goody bag was worth.

It would be interesting to see exactly what the stars did donate besides their time They didn't 'donate' their time if they were compensated with $12K worth of 'goodies'.

They are frauds and fools. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.
If I'm an african, I wouldn't accept this G8 cash anyway. It is so patronizing...like G8 countries are so superior to the rest of the world. Its like the G8 fools are saying....we know you don't have enough intelligence to take care of your self so we, omnipotent beings that we are, will do it for you. Sickening really. If they could only see themselves as they really are, instead of through the mirror of their own egos.
