A divided U.S. Senate committee voted to back President Bush's pick to head the Food and Drug Administration, acting FDA commissioner Lester Crawford, on June 15 2005, but Senators from both parties threaten to block a vote by the full Senate. Republican Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma has said he plans to place a hold on Crawford over condom labeling -- complaining the labels are not accurate and must give specific information on how well they work and the diseases they prevent.
