WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal prosecutor on Tuesday demanded that Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper testify before a grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA officer's identity, even though Time Inc. has surrendered e-mails and other documents in the probe.
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald also opposed the request of Cooper and New York Times reporter Judith Miller to be granted home detention _ instead of jail _ for refusing to reveal their sources....

"ROVE ETC [Jonah Goldberg]
I've gotten a lot of email from over the weekend asking me who I think the Plame leaker was if I think it wasn't Rove. I'm sorry to say I can't say until I get a green light to say. But I'm working on it. And, it's not a just wild guess. I could be wrong but my confidence is high.

Patrick Fitzgerald is conducting a grand jury inquiry into the matter of reporters at the New York Times---specifically Philip Shenon and Judith Miller---tipping off Islamic charities about imminent raids. He's looking at who in the government leaked this classified information as well as the reporters' roles in speaking to the charities.
Although he's the same prosecutor, I'm not sure it's the same grand jury panel. It's always reported as separate investigations...
....it is a "dangerous maximum security lockup already overcrowded with a mix of convicted offenders and other detainees awaiting criminal trials......
Which means that an enterprising reporter should take his pad and interview every inmate with whom he comes in contact. I would expect he should get at least half a million advance from his publisher for such a yarn as can be spun from in jail for contempt of court.
That's interesting. I like Jonah well enough but his prognisticating skills have never impressed me. Still, I'll keep an eye on whether he says more.
Thanks.
Thanks for the ping!
I think it might be Powell. He talks to the press alot and he is one person the media might want to protect. I don't think he did it based on malice, but more as an explanation on why the administration sent a partisan hack.
What evidence do you have that Powell would have information about Wilson's trip when it was not briefed to anyone outside the small circle that sent him and Wilson filed no written report?
But I do agree with you that Novak's sources told him about Plame by way of explanation, not retaliation. But they'd have to know about Plame's role and Powell most likely did not.
Read that the original report about Wilson's trip as well as the identification of his spouse (no name) was a weapons analyst came from a State Department office and was relayed to Powell when he was in Africa with Bush.
So far, O'Donnell has gotten practically no attention from the msm. Remember, he made his startling charge on McLaughlin Report, televised in some markets on Friday night. He was mentioned a couple of times over the week-end on cable news. He tried to further hype himself with posts on Arianna Huffington's blog, and Matt Drudge had him on for a few minutes, on his Sunday night radio show. I have to ask why, for the most part, has the msm ignored O'Connell.
The show to watch tonight is Matthews' Hardball. Of all the msm pundits, Matthews is the one most likely to tout O'Donnell's charge against Rove. Matthews would kill to nail any top ranking official" in this administration.
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, but I've followed this very closely. Do you have a link to what you're referring to?
Novak's first source told him during a lengthy conversation so one can surmise it wasn't over the phone with someone accompanying the President. I therefore have always discarded anyone on the trip as a possible source.

Thanks! :-)
Cyncooper just posted one in #114.
BTW, there is a former State Department official that I and others have long suspected has played a part in this saga:
Greg Thielmann
