WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal prosecutor on Tuesday demanded that Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper testify before a grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA officer's identity, even though Time Inc. has surrendered e-mails and other documents in the probe.
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald also opposed the request of Cooper and New York Times reporter Judith Miller to be granted home detention _ instead of jail _ for refusing to reveal their sources....

if this were a "normal" media smear job - the reporters in question would just get their stories coordinated...so there must be something else on the table.Bob Novak has already told the truth. So they are checkmated.

Perhaps I will post it in all capital letters and throw in a few creeping liar to boot.

Not only that, but it was a major disappointment to them that FR posters did not believe their spin. LOL...(One Dem poster attributed this "failure" of FR posters to the fact the matter has not yet been connected to Clinton's penis.)

Yes, that's the name. A columnist in the Chicago Sun Times mentioned that time in a column today about this matter.

Remember too, Sandy Burg(l)er gets sentenced on Friday....remember it will be a "light" sentence because he "cooperated" with another investigation. Could that be linked to this?

Not trying to play with words here, but journalists are not protected by statute or tradition. They are protected by statute in 31 states and the District of Colombia. But not under federal law.

Here's the column that mentions that woman lawyer, from the Chicago Sun Times (it wasn't today; it was July 1):
Media lax as feds go on free press attack by Carol Marin
Excerpt:
By any standard, it is a curious criminal investigation. Even the authors of the 1982 federal law that made it illegal to disclose the identity of a "covert" CIA operative have gone on record saying in this particular case the law does not appear to have been broken. Why? Because, according to federal legal experts Victoria Toensing and Bruce Sanford, Valerie Plame wasn't working covertly, and the CIA, when contacted by Novak in advance of his story, never offered any objection to him publishing her name.

Doesn't this prosecutor know that journalists are better than the rest of us, and shouldn't be held to the same laws and standards as the rest of us?
To: summer
Is Victoria saying that Novack cleared Plame's name before he published it?....if that's the case..what is this all about???
