You don't know what is like to root for crappy sports teams out of loyalty until you live in Chicago.

LOL! Apparently, the former police chief of Boston had a method of dealing with protesters in the 60s.
He would have the officers bring in the police horses first. When there was a sufficient supply of manure in one location, they were moved away.
When it came time to carry off protesters, who had been taught to let themselves be dragged, the arresting officers made a point of going through the manure.
It changed the compliance level substantially. You only had to see one person dragged through the horse manure once before you figured out what was in store for you.

URBAN PROBLEMS: Speech - San Diego, CA - 7/27/92
REMARKS BY GOVERNOR BILL CLINTON
NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
JULY 27, 1992
snip
In 1980, the federal government was contributing about ten percent of the cost of public education, down to about six percent now. Think what a difference that would make in California today, just that. Think what it means to the poor states, like the delta states. Think what it means to the inner cities. Think what it means to the school districts who suffer from the savage inequalities that the great American writer Jonathan Kozel chronicled in his book.
******
For the past thirty-five years, Jonathon Kozol has been an advocate for children. He points out the discrepancies that make our educational system so blatantly hypocritical.

Taken from the link you provided:
"But [no one] can tell us what it means to a child to leave his often hellish home and go to a school -his hope for a transcendent future-that is literally falling apart."
Boy he sounds fun.

Everyone else on his list seemed to belong, (at least from what I heard so far) but I just don't equate the Hilton's to the likes of Michael Moore and gangster rap.
