Tour de France: Stage 6 Live Thread (7-7-05)

Stage 6 - Thursday, July 7: Troyes - Nancy, 199 km

This is a stage perfectly suited to a long breakaway - only problem is, most of the traditional breakaway protagonists are missing, which may land a surprise stage winner ont the podium. The four Cat 4 climbs and three intermediate sprints, stage 6 will have something for most riders, and if a break does get away, it'll have to move quickly as the strength of those sprinters taking part in this year's Tour stands out - Boonen's performance in this year's Classics shows he can motor all day, and get into the right move at the right time. Look out for the big Belgian to use guile and a strong sprint to post another Tour stage victory, but the number climbs may prove difficult for him and allow a surprise packet such as Liberty Seguros' Koldo Gil to win the stage.

20" bonus for the winner, 12" for second and 8" for third. That's for all stages except the time trials.

Ummm... Which commercial (no I'm not watching, but the Glen Glen Glen one with the band in his apartment is the music to 'Eye of the Tiger' by Survivor, with different words... I hate that song. I hate that band.)

I think they have a Rob Rob Rob one too... The real song doesn't have lyrics there, just a keyboard riff. Same bad song, same bad band.

Just did a search on the Hank one - that's a different song, thankfully... I haven't seen that commercial, but they're using 'Rock and Roll Part Two' by Gary Glitter. Otherwise known as 'The Hey Song' because that's pretty much all the lyrics there are. You'll hear it at just about any NBA game you go to... And many other sports venues too.

Did I mention I hate that other song by that bad 80s glam band?

I was following it online, so I can't help you out. I can say that I kind of dig the Nike commercial with Lance's press conference announcing he has cancer...

Oops, I was away from my computer much of the day, but thanks for the ping! I did get to watch some of it, that area is so beautiful. Another great day.
