We just had Deputy Police Commissioner Paddick on, talking about the casualty figures and announcing that they're expecting to have the whole transport network back up by tomorrow morning. Apart from the bombed stations and the tube itself, much of it is already coming back up right now.
Some Londoners have already started grumbling about the inconvenience of the tube still being down tonight, which means things are getting back to normal.

Edgeware Road has a fairly big Arab population and is where you'll find the arab shops and cafe's. A lot of Gulf Arabs come to London for the summer to escape the heat.
Aldagte East is right next to the financial district and a poor area with a high muslim (Bangladeshi) population and is just a few hundred yards from the main East London Mosque.

In general public reaction here is about what I'd expect. Calm and stubbornly unmoved. This isn't going to change anyones mind here about the war on terrorism I think.
Whatever they thought about it already, they'll probably carry on thinking. What isn't going to happen though, and what didn't happen for the IRA is the British people letting themselves be intimidated or influenced by this.
Bombing us has been tried. It doesn't work.
Unfortunately, the USA is the exact opposite. The government and media has so whipped the population into a frenzy, it's to the point where a plane that goes off course is reason to flee Washington.
This isn't meant to be a stereotype or a joke, but I have the feeling quite a few came out of the Tube, headed for the nearest pub, had a quick drink, and then went on about their business.

No, Arab's is correct. Just because an Arab claims to not be a Muslim doesn't mean he is not. Like someone said before, not all Muslims (Arabs) are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims (Arabs). If we make a few mistakes and ship out a few innocents then too bad.
Not all gun owners are drug dealers, but all drug dealers are gun owners. Therefore, they should jail us all and if a few innocents get locked up, then too bad. Right?

Yes, but what about that truth that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing?

Ugh, what a pic! I, too, was thinking about the Brits long love affair with certain prominent Muslims, in particular Princess Di's romance with Dodi. I doubt Dodi was AQ material, but...
To: Salvation
I don't think AQ bothers much with any significance of dates. None of the other dates have been particularly meaningful.

I don't want them to clean them up first...
just like I don't want the media to "clean up" 9/11 by not showing the planes hit and the towers falling...
THAT is what is lacking in our "political" atmosphere...the gaping wound that was 9/11 to remind the Hagels, and Kennedys of the world WHY we are in Iraq and everywhere else!!
