FRANCE today raised its anti-terror alert to red, the second-highest rating, after a series of explosions rocked London, Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin announced. The alert level was changed immediately to red, moving up one notch on a four-level scale, the prime minister said.
Scarlet is the highest warning level.
Mr Villepin expressed his "deepest solidarity'' with the British people after the explosions.
Given Chirac's closeness to other islamic entities, it's hard not to make the connection to the loss of the Olympics (risking Chirac's job and thus his immunity from criminal prosecution). But it's likely not true.
The upside is that no matter how you look at it, Villepin still is a fop.

Yeah, he is, but the French don't deserve terror attacks anymore than Brits, or American or the Spainish.
France is a beautiful country overrun with horrid nasty Islamofascists who would crap in the Louvre and smear feces over the paintings and the French are in trouble.

I do not wish this on the French or anyone else? I do not trust Chirac, but I don't think that he was involved and that's what I thought I was saying.

The French are in more trouble that what you post.
They did not support us and will not support Britain. They are nefarious, back stabbing, cowardly, ingrates.
Nobody deserves this kind of attack. But France has made its bed and its own government did it. It was not imposed on the French. They embraced it and embraced their very own villainy.
I have no sympathy for the French today or on any other day.
I don't have that much sympathy, just for life.
I'm more concerned about the art and architecture and history! France was once the mightiest defender of Christianity and the church. I can just see the creeps pulling down Chartres and making it into a mosque or putting a horrid mineret on top of Notre Dame.
I guess I have decided that the world of ideas and freedoms trumps the art and architecture.
I know what you mean but where was France when the Taliban were blowing up those ancient stone carvings?
The French were silent then but reserved their outrage for our troops alleged destruction of Islamic art,,a phony report, but very revealing.
The French care more about hating us, selling out than they do about the Louvre. I have given up on them. But that is just me.

But it is freedom and ideas that make art and architecture possible. The Muslims respect neither freedom nor art. I understand how people can speak about the French as one because of the country's policies. But, knowing French people on an individual level, they are lovely.
I don't want to judge all by a country's policies no more than I want others to judge me by policies I disagree with here.
But, this is all IMHO.

Dont know. But I would sympathise with you. Except that your relative's grave and all those graves kind of serve as a daily reminder to them that they owe us, big time. I sort of like it. Think of your relative as giving the French a big ole wedgie everyday they live.
