Canberra, 7 July (AKI) - Terrorists that carried out the multiple blasts that hit London's transport system on Thursday morning could conduct further attacks in the near future unless they are captured, according to a leading al-Qaeda and terrorism expert, Rohan Gunaratna. "If the cell that perpetuated these attacks is not neutralised, there is likely to be another attack in the coming days," said Gunaratna, the head of Singapore's International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research in an interview with Adnkronos International (AKI).
The coordinated and simultaneous manner in which the attacks were conducted, and the fact that they resulted in multiple fatalities, clearly indicated that the group that carried out the blasts was "a cell affiliated or inspired by al-Qaeda," Gunaratna said.
Speaking from the Australian capital Canberra, Gunaratna, who has closely studied the international al-Qaeda terrorist network, believes that it is very likely that the group will strike again because a study of the March 2004 Madrid train bombings, which killed 191 people, revealed there were other attempts by the al-Qaeda linked group, to conduct further blasts, following the train bombings. Those attempts were foiled by the authorities in the Spanish capital.
"This [Thursday's attacks in London] is not a suicide attack, so the terrorists are still free," said Gunaratna. "Unless they are identified and neutralised, there could be another attack soon," he said.
Some unconfirmed reports however suggest that a suicide bomber was involved in the blast on the London bus.

I just got off the subway in a German city. Lots of young Muslim women in veils and carrying bags. I avoided the cars with them on it. Then a Muslim woman and her baby in a stroller got on next to me. I offered her my seat. And I did not move away. That would have been just too sick for her to take her baby with her. I was really friendly. Talked to Muslim men hanging around the train station to gauge their mood. To their credit, they thought it was stupid. I am pretty good at knowing when this kind of guy is lying and really thinks attacks are cool. They think the number of dead will go up to about 400 and the British will be less left wing. Again to their credit, a lot of Muslims are conservative and don't like the left wing. There are a lot of Muslims in Europe that feel Europe needs to crack down harder on the extremists instead of facilitating them. A lot of regular Muslims just want to make a living and find opportunity like the Mayor of London said. We need to overthrow a regime or two because of this. We need to throw a few thousand Muslims in Europe in jail. But we don't have to be mean to the regular Muslims who are on our side. At least not the ones who live next to us.

Pardon me if this may sound a little harsh, but at this particular moment in time, what the European Muslims are thinking and feeling about this cruel attack in London is the last thing anyone should be concerned about. All I know is that we were attacked on 9/11, Spain was attacked on 3/11, and now London has been attacked today.....and these attacks were carried out by Muslims. I don't trust Muslims and I won't trust Muslims until they themselves start holding their fellow Muslims accountable.
I'll give Scotland yard a description of the terrorists - young, well educated, middle to upper class, arab and muslim - now go get them...!

God forgive me, but I wouldn't shed a tear right now if the British Military zeroed in on some Middle East hellhole and dropped a few bombs. My anger level is pretty high right now and my need for revenge is pretty high as well.
One friendly tip - make sure that you see the baby. Stroller bombs have been used in Israel.

Each to their own. Thank god most people in Britain can understand that there is a difference between islamofascists and the vast majority of muslims who live here (even if sadly you can't tell by looking at em) or we would have all out civil war here today. The emotion is raw and I fear some well meaning but terribly misguided 'avengers' will burn mosques tonight. That would be just what these loons want. Let's hope sense provails.

For years you could have substituted 'Muslims' in your statement for 'Catholics' in Ireland. Many English did. It didn't get us very far.

Read my words. I said there is a difference not you can easily tell the difference.
As a rule of thumb though though the vast majority come here: set up businesses or become doctors - their children work hard at school, they are less involved in the thuggery problems we have in the UK, they pay their taxes, they learn the language, they respect the rule of law, they mix, they assimilate, they open great food places.
Islamofacists want to bring down civilisation as we know it through whatever barbaric means they can come up with - as they showed in New York, Bali, Madrid and today London.
Probably can't tell the difference by looking at them. But you can tell the difference through their deeds.
