I may have hit the mother load here. At this site you can adopt a soldier, sailor, airman or marine. Just pick a name on the left and click on it. I'm going to be baking cookies this weekend.

Try Operation AC, I just sent a care package to Iraq with some Ramen Noodles, Coffee, Socks, and Tang mix. They said the soldiers need these type of things as well as extra pairs of boots.

Unfortunately, you can't send home-baked goods.

From the page:

"Things NOT to Send: - Home-cooked anything. Note: Due to concerns for the health and safety of the soldiers, and as much as we don't want to say this, please do not send home-cooked anything to soldiers other then to your relatives or people who know you. Factory packaged only. Sorry. The soldiers are told to throw away anything that is not in a factory package."

Any Soldier.Com is a God send! As a Squadron Commander recently returned from Iraq, I can't say enough wonderful things about the care packages my Troops received from this service. Know that the service is the real deal, and that what you send not only gets through, it makes a TREMENDOUS difference!

I've emailed my soldier. I'm headed to the grocery store to get some stuff for him. I'm close to tears.

During the gulf war I had a pen pal - a woman who was a long-distance runner. This was right before Atlanta hosted the Olympics. I asked my pen pal how far she ran, and she reminded me that she lives in a compound only a mile wide, so she runs the circumference.

We folks living in freedom have no idea. We take so much for granted.
