A New Zealander working for Reuters in London says two colleagues witnessed the unconfirmed shooting by police of two apparent suicide bombers outside the HSBC tower at Canary Wharf in London.
The New Zealander, who did not want to be named, said the killing of the two men wearing bombs happened at 10.30am on Thursday (London time).
Following the shooting, the 8000 workers in the 44-storey tower were told to stay away from windows and remain in the building for at least six hours, the New Zealand man said.
He was not prepared to give the names of his two English colleagues, who he said witnessed the shooting from a building across the road from the tower.
Reports of attacks carried out by suicide bombers have been rife in London.
Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper reported an unconfirmed incident of police shooting a bomber outside the HSBC tower.
Canadian Brendan Spinks, who works on the 18th floor of the tower, said he saw a "massive rush of policemen" outside the building after London was rocked by the bombings.
I've been wondering about this report for a few hours.
As reports broke, there were reports of 5 explosions in the tubes, and one bus exploding. Later there was a report of a 7th 'explosion' in the financial district.
From the Telegraph's minnte by minute timeline:
9.46am: British Transport Police reports explosions on the Underground at Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square.
In actuality, there were 3 tube explosions: at Aldgate, between King's Cross and Russell Square, and Edgeware Road.
So, was one of these shootings near the Old Street station, and could the other have been in the financial district?
Some of the early reports could be inaccurate, but there does seem to be reports of 'explosions' that are unaccounted for.
I thought Brit cops didn't carry firearms.
I imagine that the unarmed officers make sure that the armed officers have plenty of time to keep the appointment.
"Gun Control" at it's best.
"witnessed the unconfirmed shooting by police of two apparent suicide bombers outside the HSBC tower at Canary Wharf in London."
The "unconfirmed" part has my attention at the moment...
I heard this story from a "friend of a friend" on Thursday evening. She works as a solicitor in Canary Wharf and phoned her brother, a police officer in Southampton, to see if he knew anything about it. A different source but the events were described exactly as in this story.
The small print in the Koran actually says they get "72 virgin goats."
Imagine the surprise and subsequent delight of those martyrs when they discover that little fact. ;-)
I've been up too long
Close enough?
New Zealanders in London.
They invaded.

Globe and Mail Update
From the 18th floor of Canary Wharf in London, Canadian Brendan Spinks could see a massive rush of policemen outside the building Thursday after the city was rocked by terrorist attacks.
The Internet in his office had just gone done down when Mr. Spinks, an investment banker at HSBC, saw a flurry of police cars and yellow-vested men outside.
Reports of attacks carried out by suicide bombers were rife, and in one unconfirmed incident police shot a suicide bomber outside the 42-floor banking tower.

You're absolutely right about that. Of 8000 people there would have to be at least one who would talk to the press. Personally, I wouldn't give the press anything other than undisguised contempt.
I like the fact that police officers are armed on this side of the pond. But I like the fact we are armed even better.
That's too sick even for me.
EEEEEEEEK!!
Hey, we could use about 100 of those. Our troops could drop one via parachute in the one of the terrorist cell areas in Iraq and say "and we've got 99 more of those if you guys don't knock it off."
We might be on to something here...
I don't believe it. I think the interogation value of the bombers would be very apparent to any cop at the scene. I'd understand the urge but I don't think a London cop would pass up the chance to get the necessary info for more thorough revenge.
The story is that a New Zealander saw the police in London shoot these two men, it happened in London.
No they get the full allotment of virgins, but they are camels not women.
I thought their cops didn't carry guns.
No. " shooting by police of two apparent suicide bombers outside the HSBC tower at Canary Wharf in London."
