We Did It: Al-Qaeda (... As If There Had Actually Been Any Doubt...)
The Weekend Australian ^ | 7/09/2005 | From correspondents in Dubai

Posted on 07/09/2005 2:55:25 AM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

AL-Qaeda has claimed responsibility today for this week's deadly bombings in London in an internet statement posted in the name of the Europe Division of the network's Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades.

"A group of mujahedeen from a division of the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades piled blow after blow on the infidel capital, the British capital, leaving dead and injured," said the statement, the authenticity of which could not be verified.

Shortly after Thursday's attacks on London's public transport network, a statement was posted in the name of the al-Qaeda Organization – Jihad in Europe.

The Masri division congratulated itself on "this laudable conquest" and warned that more attacks would follow.

"The next days will be marked by the biggest demonstrations of jihad (holy war) against those who have declared war on Islam and Muslims," it said.

The statement, the third such claim by various little-known Islamists groups since the blasts on Thursday, did not appear on the major al-Qaeda sites.

The language of all the statements has been vague and does not conform to al-Qaeda language and style.

US officials say Abu Hafs al-Masri's links to al-Qaeda are unclear.

The same group claimed responsibility for the March 2004 Madrid train bombings in which 191 people died and twin bombings in Istanbul in November 2003 that killed 25 people.

"The beginning was in Madrid and in Istanbul. Today, it's London and tomorrow the mujahedeen will express themselves again."

"We will only calm down when security is a reality in the land of Islam and for Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. After the Madrid 2004 bombings, Abu Hafs al-Masri sent London-based newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi an email claiming responsibility for the blasts, but it was quickly discredited.

Another little-known Organisation of al-Qaeda – Jihad in the Arabian Peninsula – yesterday also claimed the attacks and threatened to attack Rome to punish Italy for supporting the United States.

There's no doubt Al Qaeda has a global reach. I guess the MSM is waiting to have one of its journalists beheaded before they will admit its AQ's handiwork.

I don't mean to minimalize the last attack, but al quaeda is on a noticeable downward trend.
After we kill/detain a few thousand more they will be reduced to a firecracker on the playground.

The MSM hasn't noticed that Iraq has been relatively quiet over the last week.

In their view no bad news from Iraq is the same as no news from Iraq.

Ann Coulter said on Hannity that she was shocked to learn that the fanatical religous sect, the Amish, were NOT involved in the London bombing. She was disheartend to learn that members of the religion of peace has something to do with the event.

Not to belittle the dead and injured, but if I was a terrorist and could not build a bomb that would do more widespread destruction, I certainly would not take claim for the attack.

That's not the point of the exercise. Fear that you might be next is. They were successful in Spain so why not test the British resolve? After all don't they have an election coming up? Fortunately the Brits are made of sterner stuff.

These animals love to take credit for death and destruction. And just in case they were wondering if their tactics pay off, the G8 just threw more money at the so-called Palestinians and their terrorist regime.

. . . so why not test the British resolve?

I think this attack was a test of our resolve also. They know we are as divided as we were during the Vietnam War and they don't want to wake the sleeping giant. This attack probably confirmed their desired result. The decision now on the table is whether or not to attack the US again.

They just had their election last month or May.

The MSM hasn't noticed that Iraq has been relatively quiet over the last week.

It is very important for us to 'watch' for what is NOT being reported. That is invariably the true news. Any news that might be supportive of the Bush Administration, or the strength of America, is as quickly dropped down the memory hole as possible, in every leftie newsroom.

I don't think that is the case now. The leftist media no longer has a monopoly like they did back then, thank God, and the majority of the American people aren't going to bail this time.

So how come none of the bombs were suicide bombs? They short on headcount or just running out of those who want to be 'martyrs'?

I'm struggling with copy and paste. I meant to include this. They know we are as divided as we were during the Vietnam War

but failed. I haven't learned how to italicize.

That's the big unknown for those pulling the strings. You may be right. If they thought they could attack the US on the scale, or larger, of the 9-11 attack and, at the same time, keep Americans divided, they would have already done it.

We'll know in a week or two but I don't believe the London attack has done anything to unify Americans. That was the result AQ hoped for.

To begin what you want italicized use <> with an i between the <>. To end what you want italicized use </> with an i after the /. Of course, after you've done that, you'll need to use html to end the paragraph. For that use <> with a p between the <>.
