Nothing about deporting Muslims from the west. This plan will fail if it isn't backed by a willingness to change our immigration policies.

We are now waging a global war on terror -- from the mountains of Afghanistan to the border regions of Pakistan, to the Horn of Africa, to the islands of the Philippines, to the plains of Iraq.

War on terror? Terrorism is a method. What's the common thread?

Here at home, federal, state, and local officials are doing everything possible to protect us from another terrorist attack in America.
-----
Oh really, like securing our borders and accounting for ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS OR TERRORISTS??? Talk is just too cheap in Washington. While we spend huge amounts of blood and dollars to secure freedom and well-being in other countries, the Washington agenda does not permit the citizens of the United States, that are funding all of this, the benefits of the mandates and oaths of our government leaders. Why is the security of Afghanistan and Iraq far more important than the borders and protection of Amercia, Mr. President????

You owe the people of this country ANSWERS!!!

We will continue to deny the terrorists safe haven and the support of rogue states.

There was an error in his speech, the following is WITH the correction.

We will continue to deny the terrorists safe haven and the support of rogue states except for Iran, and Syria.

"The contrast could not be more vivid between the intentions and the hearts of those who care deeply about human rights and human liberty, and the evil intentions and acts of those who rejoice in the death and suffering of the innocent."

The most significant statement within this address!

The President has identified the fact that ideas have consequences.

The idea of tyrannical domination over the minds and actions of individuals results in oppression, misery, and death for all but the oppressors.

It is the idea underlying our Declaration of Independence-- of "Creator-endowed" life and liberty, the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God" to protect them, under the hand of "Divine Providence," with cognizance of a "Supreme Judge of the World"--that caused America's Founders to structure a "people's" government, with a written constitution to "form a . . . Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty."

That idea, and the resulting Constitution has brought liberty and plenty to millions upon millions of oppressed people from all over the globe.

By the way, they made that Constitution such a "people's" document that they provided within the document itself that the only method of amending it would require the people themselves. Any who doubt that fact might consult one of two writers of THE FEDERALIST, the essays intended to convince the citizens to ratify their Constitution, Alexander Hamilton:

"Until the people have, by some solemn and authoritative act, annulled or changed the established form, it is binding upon them collectively, as well as individually; and no presumption or even knowledge of their sentiments, can warrant their representatives [the executive, judiciary, or legislature]; in a departure from it prior to such an act." - Alexander Hamilton

The President should now move forward to add a Supreme Court justice who understands and reveres the ideas and principles of our Founding. In the words of Thomas Jefferson:

"These principles form the bright constellation which has gone before us and guided our steps through an age of revolution and reformation. The wisdom of our sages and the blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment. They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction, the touchstone by which to try the services of those trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty, and safety." - First Inaugural

Jefferson also stated the method by which judges should interpret the Constitution:

"On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it conform to the probable one in which it was passed."

By the way, thanks for posting the President's remarks. From the TV Screen, the headlines from Senator Reid's broadcast seem to indicate that he doesn't understand that we are in a war? He and his colleagues have been so busy waging a phantom war against the policies of an American Administration that they are failing to engage in the real war for the liberty of future generations.

I urge all Americans to remain alert, and to report any suspicious activity to your local authorities.

I hear that all the time, and I'd like to know exactly what that's supposed to mean. Define "suspicious activity". Is there any evidence that vaguely urging people to report "suspicious activity" has ever resulted in the prevention of a terrorist attack? It'd be nice if just once in awhile we could be told what to look out for. (OK, occasionally we're told to look out for unattended bags and packages, but that's about it)

It seems to me that the only thing this "be watchful and alert" mantra ever does is make people more ill-at-ease. And isn't that what the terrorists want?
