A year later Naima converted to Islam. A year after that she had guardians arrange a marriage. She felt liberated by her religion, and joined a growing number of Islamic feminists who feel hijab frees them from having to rely on beauty as their primary currency. No wonder the feminists aren't sure which side they are on in this war.

especially young Muslims, from becoming attracted to extremist movements and terrorist activity. First thing Tony, end the "humiliating checkpoints". Then tear down the "Apartheid Wall". Finally get out of the "Occupied Territories".
Cherie will explain to you how all the above might make Moslems frustrated and radical.
What's that Tony, your Moslems are frustrated without the three "root causes". How can that be?

Kick the moooslums out of the U.S. and the UK, secure the borders and all will be better. Oh yeah, close down the terrorists hideouts formerly known as Mosques.

All ideologies and religions have a simple bottom line. For example, the bottom line of Christianity (and Judaism, also, since that is where it originated) is "love God...and love your neighbor as yourself).
But the bottom line of Islam is "kill the Christians and Jews and everyone one else that refuses to convert...kill them wherever you find them.
Is it just me, or does that sound like a permanent problem for Christians and Jews and all non-Muslims?

Not one mention of the slaughter of Muslims in Bosnia, which seems to be Mark Steyn's theory behind the radicalization of Muslims in the UK.

Did anybody catch the 60 Minutes segment on the murder of Dutch film maker Theo Van Gogh by Muslim fanatics? Why would terrorists be causing problems in Holland? They don't like Bush and didn't support the War in Iraq? (asks the naive lib).

The biggest division among Britains youth is no longer class, its religion. For one group there is MSN, the X-box, T4, Jay-Z, Diamond White, Pot Noodles, Maybelline Great Lash mascara and sex. For the other there are five daily prayers, hijab, arranged marriages, a lifelong relationship with Allah ... I am not one of those Muslims who take part in the whole western thing, like drinking and drugs, he said. Notice Christianity isn't even in the running?
That's why, if you want to attack the cities that harbor Islamofascist terrorists, you'll have to include London, Hamburg, Amsterdam, and Washington, DC. Because psychologically, the West has given up on itself. We've thrown our faith, our history and our heritage down the memory hole. And we've aborted a big bloody chunk of our next generation. See? No past, no future.
Do your kids believe in anything above their own impulses and appetites? Do they bow before the Creaor of Heavenand Earth? The human soul, you see, was designed to bow before that which is supremely great, and to serve Him who is supremely good. If you don't do this, your life feels shallow and pointless. And when you do find your relationship with the Almighty, you feel life is worth living. Obscure the face of Christ or ban Him from your schools, your courts, your public square --- and prepare a generarion who will lay down their lives for Allah.
Our children are spiritually and culturally deracinated because they were being raised by a godless Unholy Trinity: the TV, the Mall, and the Public School.
And --- remember what Jesus said about the empty, swept-out soul? ---radical Islam is simply flowing into the vacuum.

I would say that statement is not accurate.
Even in America we have groups that incite the young and confused to acts of violence, always have and always will. Teens are more inducible to violence because they have capacity (for violence) yet lack the education (to temper violence with reason). Violent action is a survival mechanism and is utterly necessary for human survival.
What is happening in England is no different than what the Klan, the Skinheads, the Mugabe Regime in Zimbabwe, or Pol Pot's Khmer in Cambodia, or Arafat's Palestine, and countless other fanatical organizations run by educated cowards did and do daily.
Educated men and women are smart enough to not engage in violence themselves, except for self preservation. Educated and experienced evil people simply recruit and incite those who have the capacity to commit violence, but lack the education and experience to question the premise of the violent act beforehand.
It is those who are turning these children to terrorist acts that should be exterminated. Teens will always manifest violent behavior, it is part of growing up. They are not "wild animals", they are adolescents who must work out their capacity for violence with its proper role in a civilized society. The wild animals are those who teach them to use senseless violence to advance a cause they (the adolescents) do not even remotely comprehend.

remember what Jesus said about the empty, swept-out soul? ---radical Islam is simply flowing into the vacuum. Very good way of putting it. And Islam is demonic (since that was what took over the swept-out soul in the parable).
One of our biggest problems is that Christianity - official Christianity, at least - refuses to say that there is a right religion and a wrong religion. By your fruits you shall know them, and the fruits of Islam are evil; what more evidence do we need?
But until Christians stand up, call Islam by its name (a diabolical lie), and present Christ as the truth and the true reponse to eternal questions, we can't blame people for ignoring Christianity. The early martyrs certainly had no hesitation about calling Roman polytheistic emperor-worship the lie that it was, and even the Church once upon a time used to call Islam by its rightful name, many centuries ago. We've got to start doing that again.
That certainly doesn't mean we have to hunt Muslims down and attack them personally. But we have to be honest about what their evil "religion" really is. If they think it's not, it's up to them to prove it. They could stop the bombings and killings, as a start...

Rereading this just reminded me...
At one of the cookouts I was at last weekend, me, the wife and a few others watched two 20somethings punch the snot out of each other for about ten minutes before intervening.
We all knew it was coming for hours, but we also all have been there before and therefore let it happen. It had to happen, otherwise the party would have been ruined for the others.
Such behavior is inevitable and necessary for proper development. You must live, learn, and get a lot of sutures while growing up.
Fighting over a comment is rational and natural when you are young; planting a backpack full of C-4 on a loaded subway car is not rational or natural... It requires the intervention of an evil mind. It is those evil minds who are the enemy, not the adolescents.
