Local weather dude says that this storm sets the record for most named storms this early in the season.

Doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

Out West here so far there has been very little if any significant Pacific tropical activity. By now, there ought to have been at least one good TS that reached land. That was the prediction as well, based on Sea Surface temps and other factors. Generally, it has been my observation that when Hurricane season is dead on the Pacific, it's brutal for the Atlantic / Gulf.
