You know, if this thing wasn't being presented as the latest retro Bush-bash, folks would notice that the elephant in the room is federal government spouses not only working together, but sending each other on assignments. I thought this sort of incestuous behavior was frowned upon.

Not only working together, but using the CIA as a launching pad for campaign-season political attacks. During a time of war, no less.

Imagine the outrage if all the roles in this little soap opera were reversed.

Personally, I think Mrs. and Mr. Plame should be held accountable for their actions in a big way. If what they did wasn't abuse of power, I don't know what is.

They didn't work together. She worked for the CIA; he didn't. He got a temporary assignment purportedly because of his previous diplomatic status.

Clearly the issues in all of this are no longer the issue. It's all about removing the one guy who can mastermind the next election for the Rs.

It is. But one has to realise Wilson was a big Liberal as well as a phoobah in the Clinton Administration, so he gets a pass - just like his boss - who was (along with dozens of other more serious but unindicted felonies) guilty of sexual harrassment for boinking the hired intern help. He never had to answer for any of that, either, just like Sandy Burglar, or... the list of nefarious Clinton rats goes on and on and on, all getting away scott free.

Wilson is just one of the many rats who managed to carry his game into the Bush Administration. Now, instead of being prosecuted himself, they are, natch, going after Karl Rove. You have to hand to it to the Dims and the MSM - they certainly are consistent!

My recollection is that when Plame recommended Joe Wilson for the Niger trip, she never revealed she was married to him.

I was wrong. Plame DID apparently state her relationship when recommending Ol'Joe:

"The CPD reports officer told committee staff that the former ambassador’s wife ‘offered up his name’ and a memorandum to the deputy chief of the CPD on February 12, 2002, from [Wilson’s] wife says, ‘my husband has good relations with both [Niger’s prime minister] and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity.’”
