You are seriously kidding yourselves if you think the RINOs in the Senate will stand by a conservative nominee and fight.
I hope I'm wrong, but the conservatives couldn't even get the UN post filled with Bush's nominee.
Do we honestly believe that DeWine, Hagel, McCain, Voinovich (Not to mention the girls, Snowe, Chafee et al.) and the other dozens of RINOs are going to stand with President Bush once the MSM smear machine gets rolling?
This will be Bork II.
I suspect Bush will cave with a Gonzalas or some other "consensus" candidate to fill O'Connor's shoes, and state that she was a moderate, a conservative will replace a conservative opening.
But even if Bush nominates a "true" conservative, it still needs to get 51 votes, 60 if there is a filibuster.
And by my counting, there are too may RINOs in the Senate to guarantee any seat going automatically to a conservative.
