It's a little early to start slapping ourselves on our backs when you are counting on John McCain. Why is his own argument now not the one he had for the other jurists? I know a lightning bolt didn't just hit him, and a light bulb came on. What are his motives for making this move now? My guess is that his ego overran his brain concerning him being the ringleader of the 14. The great swell of support he expected never materialized for poor John, so now it's time to try and do some fence mending. Like I said in my earlier post, I will certainly take it, but don't expect people to get all teary eyed because John McCain has discovered how to please the base. It's all a big game for Senator McCain.
