Ken Mehlman: The Partisan Attack On Karl Rove
Gop ^ | 7/12/05

Posted on 07/12/2005 11:36:18 AM PDT by freedrudge

It's disappointing that once again, so many Democrat leaders are taking their political cues from the far-left, Moveon wing of the party. The bottom line is Karl Rove was discouraging a reporter from writing a false story based on a false premise and the Democrats are engaging in blatant partisan political attacks."

Well at least theis release is a start. It is about time someone in the GOP leadership responded. It is not so much the response itself, but it at least it gives an indication that the administration still believes Rove did no real wrong (or at least nothing criminal). Plus it highlights Wilson's lies.

The Judith Miller angle should become the focus of this story. She claims that she won't reveal the identity of her source because she believes he/she only granted permission to be identified "under duress."

There's one simple solution to this: From this day forward, every administration official who is subject to media question on this topic should call on Miller's source to disclose his or her identity in public. All that "under duress" crap will go out the window, and the media can go find something else to talk about.

At the same time, the GOP should hammer on the New York Times for even covering this story at all. They know the identity of Miller's source, so it is utterly disingenuous of them to cover this story anymore -- since they are deliberately leaving out one exremely pertinent detail that other media outlets can credibly claim to be completely ignorant about.

The NY Times involvement in this story is the equivalent of a newspaper interviewing some guy who claimed to be the mastermind in the JFK assassination, then writing extensive stories about Lee Harvey Oswald as if he had acted alone.

I do believe that it is too little too late. Rove is toast and all the crying, wailing and gnashing of teeth by the RNC ain't gonna help him a bit. The traitorous media has blood in their eye and are not gonna let up until Rove is gone. Then with his scalp on their belt, you can bet they will continue hammering on Bush until he is out of office.
Conyers will probably hold another impeachment session by his non-committee committee,in the basement that will be carried on CSpan and this time it just might work!

Rove is not "toast" because there is thus far no evidence that he did anything wrong, much less illegal.

I do not think it matters whether he did anything wrong or illegal. The media has decided that he must be brought down and I do believe he will be.

Well, this might have worked 10 years ago but the media no longer has that power.

If there was a chance he would be indicted I think he would be gone. If he is not charged, he stays no mater what. Just my opinion.

You are incorrect. This story is Hugh!!! It is Hugh, because once again the American people get to see the Democrat smear machine at it's best. No agenda, no philosophy, no way they are getting people into office.

I think they have just about given up on getting any more people into office any time soon. They are fighting a holding action to keep control of a large chunk of the judicial branch. The judicial branch has the last word on everything nowadays.

And this is also going to fail. The DNC has not yet grasped the fact that we are closer to 60 senators than they are to 51.

Once we hit 60, game is over. Once we get 5 constitutionalists on the bench and have 60 seats.... Well let's just say champagne will be in order as well as buying stock in prozac.

A laugh considering there was nary a peep from anyone when George Stephanopoulos leaned on the news networks like a Mafia Don to make sure Gary Aldrich, Kathleen Willey and others couldn't tell the truth about Bill Clinton and his White House.
