George Soros Wants Your Gun

Make no mistake about it, George Soros wants your gun. In addition to funding political organizations to attack George Bush and the Republicans, Soros is also one of the leading backers of International Action Network on Small Arms ("IANSA"), a well funded lefty group dedicated to keeping you from your guns.

Right now the UN is meeting in New York to discuss small arms and IANSA is there to push for "an international, legally-binding Arms Trade Treaty" that would limit your 2nd Amendment rights.

One of the points IANSA stretches to make is that "gun violence is undermining the fight against poverty." IANSA says that "22 out of the 34 poorest countries are in or emerging from armed conflict" and "Almost 1000 people are dying from guns every day." Note that there is no distinction between military conflict and criminal activity in either one of those talking points.

Among the interesting ideas that IANSA promotes are that its "members around the world are working to reduce gun ownership in their communities" and "[a] gun in the home does not make anyone safer, and especially not women." There's no explanation on why they had to throw in the gratuitous point about women. Why should we trust IANSA's data? Well become they say so. IANSA also tells us why we should not trust the gun lobby. IANSA's talking points provide this tid bit:

The gun lobby says that Australia/Canada/England banned guns and now only criminals have guns -- crime rates have soared. Why would other countries follow?
These are figures provided by the gun lobby. Why would we rely on the gun lobby for unbiased research on gun violence? The truth is that if you regulate guns, you reduce the number of people shot dead every year, including suicides and accidents as well as gun homicides.
Notice, they did not actually contradict the gun lobby's statement, though they throw out a stastistic on "gun murder rates" dropping. The gun lobby's point is that crime escalates when the good guys can't own guns and the IANSA's silence on the matter is deafening.

By the way, if you want to see all of the IANSA's talking points for dealing with the media at the UN Conference, you can click here.

Isn't George Soros getting $30 million of taxpayer money for his Marxist foundations?

"How old is Soros? He'll never run out of money, so maybe he'll run out of time before he can do any more damage to our country. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he's the one funding all the Muslim terrorists."

Amen. INVESTIGATE SOROS NOW!!

BTW-you can have at least one of my firearms, just tell me where you want it.

A few years ago, I was taking my NRA pistol instructor's course, and one of the students was a naturalized American from Nicaragua. At the time, California was trying to decide if the AR-15 series fell under the "assault weapons" definition, and during a break, several of us discussed whether it would be right to register such a rifle if the law so required.

The gentleman from Nicaragua listened for a while, and then asked "Are you guys nuts? Don't you know anything about history? Never register your guns -- they'll just come around and take them. And you can never let them take your guns -- there's only one reason for that."

He had the idiomatic "they and them" all figured out, but he's right. Too bad more of our own native-born urban hoplophobes can't follow the logic, or at least read a history book.

Nothing new. He bankrolled the Million Morons and VPC as well, and had his own gun grabbing department in the Open Society Institute, his foundation. The head of that was one Rebecca Peters. She's the head honcho of IANSA and is the top gun grabber in Australia.

Why would we rely on the gun lobby for unbiased research on gun violence?

Oh, so the unbiased research done by the anti-gun lobby has been so reliable? Please. "Unbiased" anti-gun research has been responsible for more bad legislation and misinformation than we all can count.

Ask any criminal what type of citizenry he would prefer. He'll give the same answer as George Soros.

Well, then, let him come and get it - himself. Let's see if he has the guts to do it - he and all the rest of the gun grabbing bastages - or if (as usual) he and they will hide behind their hired (at our expense) goons, like children hiding behind the skirts of their mommies.

Perhaps Soros and the rest of them shouldn't sleep so well. Many of the unwashed have figured out that the best way to send a message is to send it directly to the masters, instead of the hired servants.

Of course they will. The essence of liberalism is getting someone else to pay for/do your dirty work. It will be your local friendly police who come to round them up.

Some of them, or the gang bangers they hire to replace those that won't.

I've heard several Texas Peace Officers, including one wearing Lieutenant's bars, state flat out that they would not be doing so.

I guess it depends on where you live. When "New York's Finest" (hurl) kicked down the doors in 1996 ('97?) of those foolish gun owners who registered their weapons in NYC in 1976 - believing the politicians promises that the lists would never be used for confiscation, I don't remember reading of a single instance of blue flu marring this sordid little episode.

The NYC government did it's best to emulate the SS and convinced me that inside every politician and bureaucrat in NYC is a Reinhardt Hydrich or a Karl Jager or a Werner Best, etc. just waiting to get out. In the case of Hitlery and upChuckie I think that they've already gotten out.

Further there is a poster on FR who claims to be a NYC cop by screen name of Newahoo (or something like that I don't really remember) I asked him flat out if he'd enforce NYC's gun laws and the answer was a resounding yes. So there you have it posting on a (formerly) conservative forum and eager to enforce gun laws.
