Ha! The first episode was a bit more risqué than the show turned out to be, as the original timeslot was originaly going to be 9:00 PM (I think) but it was pushed back to earlier. In the first episode there was a joke about half of the children at the Hazzard orphanage possibly being Bo and Luke's kids, and also a conversation between Bo and Daisy that went something like:

Bo: "If we weren't cousins I'd marry you!"

Daisy: "Since when has that stopped anyone in our family?"

Things were quickly toned down however.

They just look so, well, fake!!

That poster is a painting, not a photo. But it's representative of the image they were selling.

Must be - I don't remember Daisy Duke looking that much like Victoria Gotti ;-)

"Jones was elected to Congress in 1988 as a Democrat"

OK Ben, you ruined your creditability right there! There's no need for you to tell me what I should or shouldn't see. I was well aware that this movie would suck raw eggs from the first trailer I saw.

Let's hear about your boycott of several episodes of the original show because they wouldn't let you grow a beard.

Shouldn't that be 'thanks for the silicone'?

I dunno. The "cones" don't look silly to me.

The preview looked about on par with "Dumb and Dumber".

Plus, I didn't think glorifying running from the law and driving really fast was the best thing for elementry age boys to be watching

One time long after the show was cancelled, according to John Schneider who played Bo Duke in the original show, he was at a ranch looking to buy some horses when a cowboy rode up to him. The cowboy asked if John was on that show, etc. and John said yes, expecting to get a complaint about all that but instead the cowboy took off his glove, shook Johns hand, thanking him. It seems the Dukes of Hazzard show taught the cowboys son to "always respect his elders, especially his ma and pa."

Weird. But I didn't watch it, so maybe it was really the epitome of good role models. Didn't look that way from the ads on tv, and that's all I had to go on in making my decision on whether or not to let my boys watch it. I taught them good manners myself!

There was never anything that racy on any of the shows. Except for the first episode where Daisy wore the bikini. The more I hear about this movie, the more I realize just how bad they messed it up

Same reason women go for the obviously fake personalities. ;)

Former Congressman Ben 'Cooter' Jones (D-GA) is a goofball.

When Clinton was under Lewinsky seige, Jones was a vociferous defender of the President. That's understandable, but Jones went way overboard in Clinton's defense and laughed about perversions and 'it's just about sex'.

After 9-11, he became flag-waving 'God, Guns, & Guts' morality man.

Phony as Jimmy Swaggart.

It was mostly a cartoonish show. As a kid I watched for the antics, but I bet my dad was watching for Daisy. I don't doubt Hollywood will mess it up. Just like they'll mess up Charlie and the Chocolate Facory.
