Dick Morris, former chief political strategist for Bill Clinton, says President George W. Bush must count on Justice William Rehnquist to quickly retire from The U.S. Supreme Court.
Morris thinks Bush will have to appoint an "extreme right-winger" to replace Sandra Day O'Connor, and thus appease his base. However, if Rehnquist retires, Morris believes that Bush must then appoint a "moderate" to "balance out" the Court. Otherwise, Morris believes, angry voters will elect Hillary Rodham Clinton as the next President of the United States in 2008.
In the first place, why is it that Dick Morris, Teddy Kennedy, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, and John Kerry are never pressed by the media to identify the members of "the extreme right-wing" of the Republican Party ? These liberals throw this term around daily, yet no one in the press corps is ever inquisitive enough to make them attach names to this sinister group of "extreme right wingers".
If the Republicans were constantly attacking the extreme left-wingers in the Democratic Party, you can bet that the news media would demand identification of these individuals. It's very frustrating that even the conservative media doesn't take a hard stand on this.
But, beyond that, why does George W. Bush have to name a "moderate" to "balance out" the Court? Bill Clinton was never challenged by the media when he named two extremely liberal judges to the Supreme Court.
I hope President Bush will listen to his friends, and ignore his enemies. He must name only constitutional conservatives to the U.S. Supreme Court. After all, that was his firm promise to voters in the last two elections.
If President Bush does not appoint originalists to the Court, he will have no friends, only enemies.
Ol' Dicky must be smokin' something these days...
He is a genius and sucking toes however!
Even weathermen are more accurate that Dick Morris, Actually if you place your bets on the exact opposite of what Morris says you'll come out a winner..........
you mean dickie " Toe sucking " morris?
Why would Bush want to put a moderate in there and get the same thing he has been B*TCHING about for 4 years? Judges legislating from the bench!
Morris is ALWAYS wrong. I don't know why anybody would even listen to what he has to say anymore. I think they have him on TV as comidic relief.
Every once in a while Dick Morris goes loopy and makes some wacky statement about a current political situation.
While he is interesting (occasionally), Morris has been wrong much more than right.
Also, he is much better prognostigating about Democrats than he is about Republicans, I believe.
That's probably because deep down, he lives a Democrat-leaning life rather than the other way around. (and I'm not sure what that means, even though I said it)
The toe sucker is wrong again. Somebody please explain why Fox continues to pay this has been for his whiney opinioins? ....Anyone?,,,
vaudine
in short, a moderate.
I had to read this to see if Morris could actually write an article without inserting the word Hillary.
After review, I found he couldn't.
Dick Morris should retire.
And the East Coast regional champion at "This Little Piggy".
Right!!!
Hey, Dick! Kiss My Shiney Metal A$$!
Bush doesn't care. He isn't up for re-election. He has shown he doesn't care for America as we know it with his plans to increase illegal immigration. Hillary is doing an end run around him on this issue in order to position herself for '08. Bush is slowly revealing his liberal tendencies.
Adulterous males are usually pro-abortion. Morris is no exception. He may be sensible sometimes, on issues such as terrorism, but when abortion is the issue his "women are meat" attitude rises to the top and he begins howling for Roe vs. Wade to be defended.
What is Dick Morris smoking? Sometime he just goes off the deep end. Come to think of it, most of the time he goes off the deep end. I think Morris is one of those guys who makes outrageous predictions that are mostly wrong just so he can be the only "I told you so" guy on the rare occasion when he is right.
If America wanted a Lib on the court Gore or Kerry would be president today. Bush was elected. We can't sit here and worry about the outcome of a future election, because regardless of what happens in '08, or '12, what Bush does today and for the next 3 1/2 years with judicial nominations will shape the court for 20+ years and transcend whatever future presidents do. I am not worried about Election '08, I am worried about SCOTUS '05-'25 and beyond.
And if the libs get the WHite House, they can pick whatever justices they want, but for now, it's OUR TURN.
