I know many Chicanos that have loyalties and love of country directed more towards Mexico than their own country. I don't understand it. Why?

Does Mexico seek to reclaim lands ceded to the United States in 1848 at the close of the Mexican-American War by re-colonizing the region?

Nah: I think they want the whole country ----and they might get it.

"Their goal is to do away with European-American heritage, culture, and language..."

Uh-huh. I'm sure they'll be giving up their surnames, Catholocism, and Spanish any day now.

Nope. We live in Canada. Our illegal immigrants are Asians and MEasterners.

When you put is that way our illegals don't sound too bad.

You have to live here to understand what is going on. And it is NOT assimilation.

High birth rates?
Mexicans don't have families.
They have litters.
Generally 8 children.
They often wind up being foster children that you and I pay for.
But that's the whole idea, for you and me to be the ones who are paying.

Why could not those people simply obtain mexican passports?

A foreign passport is subject to treaty and would HAVE to be recognized by IRS, USCIS, Soc. Sec. AND FBI.

I bet even CF citizens would pass a referendum de regognizing this form of false ID.

How about we just say this Matricular Consular cards are just a tool to evade relevant Passport treaties. The breach of such treaties would have far more serious consequences.

What do the open-borders fanatics plan to do when the tax base collapses because of so many parasites? This whole thing is insane.

To claim that 38 years of occupation (and there was virtually no Mexican presence in these lands) trumps the U.S. occupation of almost 160 years is absurd.

To claim the current invasion as 're-colonization' is stretching it as well. At least in California. Mexico never had more than minimal control over this state, and when the time to succeed came, most mexican citizens embraced the California Republic with both arms.

Well, the Asians make up some of our best citizens. As do the Sikhs (who are quite common in Canada, despite their rarity in the world) and many Indians. Though they have a few problems. Some especially nasty Vietnamese gangs, Chinese tongs, the odd Sikh extremist, and some suburbs with relatively high crime. All in all, though, they became respectable citizens, educate their kids, work hard, vote (although they do tend to vote in ethnic blocs here, but its more of a problem on the west coast) and are generally very law abiding (huge cultural respect for the law, for the most part).

The fact that their immigration is illegal (they smuggle themselves on ships, and in boxes and trucks, and shipping crates) is an area of concern, because it makes it harder to know what's going on and control the rate of immigration, but for the most part they're not too bad.

Many of the MEasterners (Lebanese and Turks being exceptions, for the most part) on the other hand, are another story. Many don't assimilate well, many are perpetually angry, they demanded (and sadly got) shariah law imposition in place of Canadian civil law for Muslims, the areas they live in tend to have higher crime rates, raise money for terrorist groups, demand more multicultural understanding, etc. etc. They elected Carolyn Parrish (Ms. "I hate Americans. Damn bastards." and "Coalition of the Idiots"), and also have honor killings every now and again (thankfully not too often).

Not a great situation.

LA will turn into another lowlife Mexican hellhole, and the Villaracista mayor will demand more money from the state and feds to clean up the town. The drugs and violence will be nonstop, education will go down, hospitals overwhelmed with people using emergency rooms as a clinic. It's so very sad, but you don't need a crystal ball to see this coming. Once they get control of the southwest, suddenly the quality of life will hit the cellar and keep dropping. Mexican nationalists will scream bloody murder and blame the rest of whatever's left of the US. Reparations, gimme, gimme, gimme. They come here because they want a better life, but fantasize about Mexico as it never was. They don't ever want to go home, and they'll say so very loudly. But they don't understand that if they establish a miniMexico here, they'll have the same old problems, all over again.

I dunno. I don't live in the ME, but I have a fairly good idea of what's going on there. I got family in the Southwest, and I get a decent picture from them. Though you probably have a better idea than me whats going on, I have trouble believing that Mexico is going to take over the SW anytime soon (soon being next 10-25 years).

Thankfully, we'll never end up like France with its unassimilated immigrant population achieving majority status by high birthrates.

Did you leave this off </sarcasm> on purpose?

Though, at least the Latinos are assimilating pretty well for the most part.

I watched a U.S. vs. Mexico soccer match at the L.A. Coliseum in '97 on a local (So. Cal) TV station. The crowd of almost 100,000 was awash in Mexican flags, the American national anthem was booed mercilessly, and "urine bombs" rained down on both the U.S. players and the (few) fans of the American team in attendance who had guts to openly root for the home (U.S.) team.

Nice assimilation.
