Public schools are in need of reform? Where have I been all these years?

Y'All know I'll shoot down Canada whenever necessary, but K-12 education is something that Canada does better at 1/2 the cost per student. Why? Less frills for starters. No tenure. More demands on quality teachers. Tougher curriculum. Oh, and giving parents the freedom to educate their kids how they want. In Alberta they have charter schools, magnet schools, home schooling, etc. and they do well.

Moral: Get rid of the self-esteem councellors, $5million cafeterias, 50 sports teams, space age schools, and get back to basics. If Johnny can't do multiplication tables its not the fault of "lack of funding" its that not enough is demanded of Johnny.
